yea this happened to Adey too, his had done about 15k miles i think, all harddddd use. the repair cost from rotrex was what made adey decide to strip his sadly
Back from our honeymoon in the Maldives now and back to reality sadly.
Thanks for all the lovely comments, really means a lot!!
Thank you to the CS people reading this who made the journey up, down and across England to get there, Jay, Tony, Gray, ph-reeboner, Adey
And a massive thank you...
awesome news on the Ring trip and getting her back in one piece. Fook i miss mine so badly sometimes! Can honestly say that 280bhp was too much in a car like this though, sensible keeping it where you are now IMO
What MPG did you get on your trip? I was getting between 25 and 29 mpg depending...
As you know in today's texts I genuinely am in two minds. However this thread has also changed my opinion slightly, as much as I see where Rob is going (which is similar to whaty texts have said) I also see Dan's point of view, to the point where I once again wish I had just left my ph1 in a...
Still shocked at the speeches!!
In this case then, cyl2 is missing, cyl1 is full of water and also has fubard valves, cyls 3 & 4 full of fragments but would probably go round again
All going in the bin though :)
Started taking the engine apart tonight, still can't find the piston. Obviously it's the third cylinder which went boom, but there is metal in all of them plus damaged valves in 3 and 4 (assuming cyl1 is drivers side)
It's blown a hole in the inner block/liner type thing and I've found some...
the wedding nerves have kicked in this morning, i think buying the car yesterday gave me something else to think about which was good. Now ive got it, time to think about more important things!
Thank you all for the best wishes!
Xanda, happy belated birthday to your Clio then, hope you...
all depends on money really. i could smack a new lump in this one for a couple hundred £££, tempting to find a meggy engine and try that but its lots of monies.
I do realllly miss the 280bhp supercharged Clio but ''been there, done that'' comes to my mind, its a verrrrrrrrrrry very clean...
Oh I'm not fussed at all, I'm on top of the world at the moment. I get married in 38 hours, have a gf who doesn't care what I do with these things and no matter what I do, I've lost no money.
Beats a day feeding ducks at the park ;)
When I offered him the money, it was on the basis I was...
So, on Monday evening I got a text off Gray suggesting I look at link to CS advertising a Clio for sale. Slight engine noise, probably dephaser pulley on its way out.
7 minutes later my offer is accepted, we chat and discuss tactics. It was an hours drive away and I had today off work...
Ffs hadn't realised this ones now cracked too! Adey's had done about 11k miles before it did, mines only done about1-2k miles. I think Jon someone also had these and lasted ~25k miles without problems. Adey did do some strentghening to his but also left it broken for 2 months lol. I'll try...
Re: 172 in a mk1, Superfastdan's very very long project....
Got got upto speed on this, awesome/well done/good luck with it. Hope today is as rewarding as yesterday
what he says ^^^
should be able to give it a good clean up with that all removed, the gearbox also. then we can whack it back into the car in an afternoon again :)
