Cheers mate I was thinking that, after all the stuff I've read about them on here but wanted to know if there could of been something else, its still under some from of warranty atm so it'll be going back for that to be done as well :) if I keep driving it for a few days will it cause any damage...
Right my 172 was making a diesel type noise coming from the engine itself all the time, the mechanic thought it was lifters and replaced the ones where he said the noise was coming from and also replace two rocker arms, now the car is next too silent when cold but after I've been out driving for...
Its also had some new rockers, lifters and belt tensioner done on Friday, but its still making a bit of noise every now n then so it'll be going back soon (n)
Absolutely blitzed the clio today, washed, rinsed de-tarred, clayed, washed, SRP, polished, waxed n sealed :) shampooed all the interior fabrics, basically gutted it, took me about 5hrs, but was definitely worth it, gonna try keep it clean at work next week, if that's even possible :/
By the time you've spent all that money on a 1.2 you may as well of bought a 1#2 mate, id just save your money, because as nice as you get your 1.2 too look you'll still end up wanting something a bit more capable
Ahh does sound kinda tractor/diesel like but been told that's the lifters, if it still makes the other noise (high pitch creaky noise) when I get it back I'll stick a video up, thanks though guys :)
Alright guys my 172 is in the garage atm having some new lifters put in, but over the past few days and only occasionally it literally sounds like there's crickets engine bay, it doesn't seem to get louder or speed up and slow down with acceleration, well not that I've noticed :| any ideas? I...
Just spoke to my mate, who has an Astra SRi, and its been in to have the head gasket done and some other stuff, the mechanic who is doing it has said when he was doing some work on it slipped with a grinder and nipped the head, but has had the slice/cut whatever, welded up then had it...
Yeah ya could always get some 'bolt grips' I think that's what they're called I've got some at home, and you just hammer it over the bolt and it cuts in to the metal and lets you undo it :)
If you do ever get it off mate, don't put it back on they're pretty pointless (just my opinion), if someone wanted to steal your wheels they'd just take the whole car these days, I've had loads of hassle with them in the past, hope you get it sorted anyways
Just don't use locking nuts more hassle than what there worth imo :/ , but I definitely have a go at prising the drain cover up nd get your hand in mate :rasp:
I'll have to take a trip to the car shop then Thursday for some of that thanks, oh this car will never look good its an Xreg 1.4 'sport?' yellow megane coupe every panel is a different colour, with loads of laquer peel its horrendous, just been borrowing whilst mines belts are being done, and...
Yeah I've got some clay bars and the and the lube for them, so I might try them out on the car im driving atm first as its a shed anyway just to get the feel for it and get used to the pressure I need to use when removing tar etc without marking the paint
