This is why for my cars (two old Clios!) I pay the absolute minimum I can for insurance. I’ll never pay for any extras or try to find a particularly reputable insurer because I know that I’m unlikely to make a claim for my own car. Therefore, by paying for insurance, i’m just paying a fee to be...
Received them today and I’m really impressed.
From what I can see, they’re as good as OEM. They’re very well made.
Fitted earlier and my misfire has gone. Happy days :)
Are you sure you want to change your air filter setup? Your engine bay is absolutely beautiful as it is. I think anything else would make it look a bit crappy.
I had an irritating knock like this a couple of years back. After replacing all my suspension components (not a bad thing to have done!), I established that it was the rattling of my track pads making the noise. The Carbone Lorrane brake pads of mine don’t have anti-rattle springs fitted to the...
I've removed my headlight washer jets in order to replace them with blanks, but I'm wondering how best to block off the hoses. I'm not wanting to lose my precious washer fluid! :D
If I just terminate the hoses, surely the pressure will blow off any blanking plugs?
I took the plunge and splurged £38.50 on a pair of BTT motorsport washer blanks this week.
I thought I’d share some detailed pictures of what they’re like:
I had been hoping for something better, especially as on their eBay listing they talk about them being meticulously designed...
That’s great and it’ll make a huge difference to have an easily accessible, strong jacking point. Mine will be very similar, but seam sealed and bolted on instead of welded.
Those weak sill jacking points are a problem which I’m dealing with at the moment.
About 2 years ago, I used ATS to replace two tyres and the monkeys absolutely mangled my front jacking points.
Just as others have mentioned, I also never jack from those points as they are a bit too delicate...
I had a slight creaking issue too. I ended up replacing all front end suspension components, as well as new rack bushes before deciding that the sound must have been the rack.
Replaced the rack with a refurbed OEM item...
Hi Mick,
The battery (weighs less than 2kg) is mounted with cable ties. It's solid, but admittedly still not as firm a a lead acid battery (bolted down) would feel.
I went to Cadwell Park on Weds evening and the problem persisted. It didn't spoil the evening, but it was irritating. If you take...
Car - My 2005 182 FF
This has just recently started happening, but I've found that when braking very hard, or accelerating hard in tricky conditions (such as a high speed, off-camber corner, losing traction), I've occasionally had what I'll describe as an electrical reset.
I felt no...
I removed my gearbox a couple of years ago. I read loads of posts about being able to lower the subframe a bit and then manoeuvre it out of the passenger wheel well. I seriously struggled with that. The gearbox is heavy. Trying to manoeuvre it anywhere whilst laying on your back is really...
I guess your thinking is that no pump noise - no pump in operation. Which would be a good thing to test, though I can’t think why my pump would no longer be working after the rack swap.
I’ll be pretty busy over the weekend, but might get a chance to put the front end up on stands this evening...
I took my 182 to my local garage (ex Renault franchise, have always done a great job over the many years that i’ve used them) this morning for a replacement steering rack and rack bushes.
It’s been replaced with a professionally refurbished genuine rack and has been done to try to cure the odd...
I made my own out of some sheet and angle aluminum, which fits into the existing battery mount, with the original battery bolt. I've not shown the strap that goes over the top of my battery.
I spent a few hours making it to get it to fit properly.
I’ll be trying to actually use my 182 this year, so it’ll be closer to a daily than it’s been over the past few years.
I expect that it’ll be fine - but I’ll post an update in a few months either way.
Hi Everyone,
I know a few others on the forum have this battery, but I thought I'd share my experience as I've been really pleased with it.
I'd been wanting a lithium battery, mostly because I don't use my Clio year-round. The car is stored in an unheated garage over the winter, so I take out...
I’ve bought the K-tec replacement fitting and want to fit it.
https://www.k-tecracing.com/show_product.asp?id=4022&appid=2
I know that it’s not possible to pull the original fitting out of the original fuel hose. Therefore, I want to cut it off, get a straight connector like the one below...
Hi Everyone,
I'm posting this for a friend that has a 2010 1.5dCI Kangoo that won't start. The car has been at a garage for a few months (!) now and they're still struggling. Here are the details from my friend:
Symptoms: Cooling fan running, spanner light illuminated on dash, unable to start...
With regards to the big rubber boot, you can simply pull is back away from the body of the car. I seem to remember that there’s a flat-ish area of rubber on the body of the car that the rubber boot is pushed into. You don’t want to pull the rubber that’s on the body of the car, only pull back...
Here’s a link to the £220 recon racks. They seem good from the description! I’ve not yet seen a post on here about anyone that’s used one before.
My rack needs replacing, so I’m likely to get one of these next year...
I’m a non-married childless man with a girlfriend and cat. As others have said, details of the car (model and year) would really help. It sounds as likely that you’re going to have to make sure all all earths are good and if the problem is still present, trace the wiring back for an issue.
Glad to hear that your 172 is back on the road!
I’m based in Exning, Suffolk and I’ll be looking for someone to do the belts on my 182 in about a year or so. Do you mind me asking roughly what Alex charged for your belt change?
Cheers,
Ed
