An answer from the garage is :
If you turn up for test with the blanks fitted it CANNOT fail as they are not there to test. I should have made Rentec fit them prior to MOT test. Once failed they need to be rectified. They have offered to fit the blanks and take the pump back for them if I want...
Basically yes, now that I've had more time to read about it at home. It is technically correct, though very strict.
The pump has failed and is now being fixed. Just need to decide whether to fit the blanks at a later date and maybe go somewhere else next year or just send them back which the...
Well unfortunately failed on n/s front wheel bearing which is apparently too rough though I hadn't noticed or heard anything. I'll want to see this I think. (Though other front did go fairly recently so we will see)
And as per other thread apparently blanks are a failure for headlight...
I've been told by the tester that Rentec (Edinburgh) use that blanks are a failure with xenon headlights? So now instead of fitting they are having to repair. I'm not particularly happy as I have read numerous times that this isn't the case.
Any way I can clarify? Any testers able to help? I'd...

Glad I nipped along before work even if I had to leave a car meet on foot(left my BG for MOT)
A chilled afternoon with a few very nice Renault sports.
The two kangoos rocking F4R set ups and Clio subframea were something different to see.
Mainly wished I'd had more time to get mine cleaned up...
Haha, definitely a compliment but almost a statement of fact.
And good call on ththe door handles being stealth, looks better than silver, I'm tempted for mine as the silver looks a bit cheap sometimes for me day to day.
Every time I check back on your thread I'm just left thinking, such an engineer!! Haha, in a good way of course. And those switches, it's basically a koenigsegg!!
Car's looking good so far :) So many good BG's on here! Great deal on the gearbox, I've thought of doing that so I can keep driving while one is being refurbished.
Very small update:
Car is due for MOT this next few weeks so got some carbon washer blanks to fit - had a nightmare with the bumper crews all being corroded on so this still to do.
Had someone slightly damage my front o/s wing and front bumper so had them all re-done by Dentec in Edinburgh who...
About to order for my BG but feeling indecisive. Get the carbon or get blank to paint pearl black like most of my plastics?? Not sure highlighting a blank by using carbon is nice but for only £9 more spending time painting blanks is not exciting.....
Aye, Rente Autocare in Edinburgh did my belt change as well as a fair amount of other work. Not the cheapest but they know the cliosports well and a lot cheaper than Renault.
Just what I was looking for: what size/type are the bolts at the top end of the sub frame to chassis tie bar?? Looking to replace mine at the moment. Cars looking tidy!
Firstly welcome to the club, the amount of advice on here is nuts, way better than any other forum I've ever seen, also doesn't look like the web site was designed about 10 years ago like some others. Its all about rescuing a slightly dubious buy. Yours doesn't sound too grim minus the gearbox...
Spring Update: Finally got round to cleaning the arches with the wheels off when I put the summer wheels back on (then it snowed and was around zero again!!). Can't believe how bad they were but I got them up to a reasonable standard given that I'm on the street with no hose and less time than...
Bahco is definitely a solid choice, my main tools are always Bahco and car tools are halfords pro. They did replace my case for me as they are a bit cheaply made, no tools have any issues yet.
Well for what it's worth I had the power flex ones fitted and they are absolutely fine one year later, there's no guarantees in changing to either OEM or power flex. Without modifying one bit of your car at a time then driving the exact same track/road it's very hard to notice differences in...
