I agree with what you say, my friends 998 mini is a hoot! But he wishes he saved the ridiculous money spent on chassis an suspension to go towards a different car! I just couldn't personally bring myself to forking out a fortune on handling upgrades and having them properly set up on something...
Yeah I get that but insurance would be far kinder to lowering and wheels than a 1.7t conversion. And as for handling who cares its a 1.2 he's never gonna be putting good times in on the ring is he!
Just focus on some nice hoops and seriously low height
Don't lie to insurance kid, it only takes one slightly clued up copper to look under the bonnet to see all the miles of hoses and pipes the 1.7t's seem to have and realise its not a 1.2!
I went the other way round haha!
handling wise, they are easier to drive. But by no means better! It a matter of what you want really, if you want a refined and easy to drive car with creature comforts and that's ideal on long journeys (despite the chronic MPG) then a 197 is great.

Intending on fitting my GAZ coilovers this weekend for the Malton big breakfast meet on Sunday.

I have the Ktec Stealth fitted and sagging/destroying mounts and generally not sitting well has plagued me the last month.
In the end I've stumped up for a Prima Racing rear exhaust mount (which has replaced a socket bodge OEM mount AND two powerflex universal mounts), and also replaced the...
60mm drop on standard shocks will quickly destroy them, ride comfort would be the least of your worries!
Edit: Apex 40mm or something of the sort would be ok, I'd personally save for some cheapy coilies though!
I'd leave the platforms in, just remove the adjusters. You may run the risk of loosing your back springs if you dukes of hazard it over a hump. :approve:
