Yeah, turn car off, then turn it back on to the ignition (all the dash lights on car NOT started) then turn the lights on and off a couple of times in quick sucsession the car will then beep and lights are re-activated, its also in the handbook
Do you mean the top mounts where the top of the suspension is bolted to the inner wing (visable when you open the bonnet) or the bit where the bottom of the strut connects to the hub and wishbone assemble (visable whenyou remove the wheel) ??
I completley agree on the quality over quantity, after all its no use if your getting loads of air in but the fuel gets caught up and cant mix properly
The rifling thing is just what I found out from the flow specialist who worked on my engine and several inlets and finishes were tried and...
Not sure whats the cheapest
K-tec supply them for £41.13 (inc vat) plus delivery
Hopefully this will spur people to say "I got mine cheaper from......"
Im going to do this mod in the next couple of weeks whilst Im there Im going to polish up the plenum, that should stand out quite nicely I also want to get the engine cover painted monoco blue to match the body work, Whats the best way to paint it? Do I need/Can I buy high temp paint in this...
It might just be me but I like to tune a car using it in essence its original components/design characteristics To me thats the challenge, engine transplants from other marques generally require fabrication work rather than engineering work . So I have a 172 with the F4R and JC5 amd I want to...
Yeah I think you would notice it more if you had the mods listed and switched from a std airbox to an I/K. Rather than comparing the 2 types of induction on a std engine
ITs a trade off between filtration and air flow,
The paper filters a restrictive because of their filtering qualitys and cotton /gauge allow more air through but also more crap, fortunatley there isn't much sand on the roads lol
You say that you fail to see what is so great about the std air box but what is so good about a £250 Ik , Ok so the std airbox restrictive to airflow, holds too much heat, doesn't seem to have a fantastic cold air feed and doesn't sound like dyson with a partial blockage, But these £250 I/K's...
Not so much power but all round engine effiency, I has a dead lead on one of may cars, If its sparking before the pot then, the petrol in the chamber is not fully burning if at all. by changing the leads even for std working ones you will notice, an improved spark, the engine will start and run...
Ben,
I know what your saying about these TB's kits, From your position you are providing a service and a skill to modify cars to peoples requirements and if by using sub-standard components it compromises your work then its no good, lets face it if you carryout some work and a sub-standard...
Yeah I want to stay NA I don't like Turbos, ever since I had a turbo ingest a blade and destroy my engine!! I dont want to go for massive power, stripped out monster, I've already got one and as nice as it is to drive I,m so glad I don't have to use it everyday. I have a full fat 172 and I love...
If you can do the ball joint yourself do it, they are pretty easy if you can use a socket set and read a haynes manual, A ball joint will cost about £25-£40 from a motor factors
You really need to take the renault mechanic out for a test drive and reproduce the brake problem if you fly over a junction because the brakes aren't working Im sure he will get the picture! lol
Are the brake consistantly bad or do they just fail from time to time??
Go on a track with std brakes and see how fast your lap time is then uprate the brakes and time another lap, your car will be faster as you can brake later and carry more speed for longer before having to slow down to corner
Mate Seriously call this guy Noel Dazely 0127625996. you are being arse raped by your insurance company.
At 19/20 I was paying £650 FC on a 2003 1.6 16v dynamique
Im 22, 3 points for speeding and a fault claim which and my 172 cost me £875 FC
Good old panel filter £35, Gives a little better throttle response and a slightly crisper sound. I wouldn't spend that much on an induction kit, Buy a decat you will get more of a gain from that.
at least 30 mins before checking (if you think its running at little low) re-check in th morning after the car has been laid up for the night. Remember to check it on a level surface.I would leave at least 45mins-hour before changing. hot oil burns are nasty!!
I just put in an ITG panel filter in my 172 and its pretty good (better than the k&n I had on my previous one), you can get them for about £34 my mate has a viper on his 172 and it makes no difference other than the sound. personally I didn't find that the sound warranted the £250 price tag
Yeah its a lot of money, the car only cost £7k so to spend £4k on tuning is quite excessive let alone £6k! I have already spent £5K tuning my lotus this year, older N/A engines are so simple but still expensive!
I was chatting to a mate and he recons that the k-tec TB kit is overpriced and...
