You would need to modify the front arch liner to get any air onto the caliper to cool though.

Yeah just taking the fog lights out wouldn't really help with brake fade. You could very cheaply make some that might help though.

Yeah a lot of the problems are pretty small e.g. leaking rear dampers (about 50 quid each from Renault) interior rattles a bit, the only major problem that can happen is cambelt failure so it is important to check this had been done as its not simple (500 quid job!) renault say 72k/5yrs but many...

So you replaced them with second hand shockers? Common fault though (rears) so some new renault ones, probably best option, unless you have lots of money for spring / shock setup or coilovers

If you need some leads get them through a breakers, i got some for 12 quid off a 172

None at all, My rear brakes (on 172 cup) are doing 6% of the overall braking so wouldnt make any difference, except to your wallet!

On here you may get 175-200 max i would have thought. On ebay you may get upto 250 but you can get them new on ebay for under 300

The main problem might be getting hold of one, as the 172 cup gearboxes are different to the other 172/182s due to speedo driven off gearbox not rear abs. (AFAIK) Few come up on ebay though, and try renault breakers
