Like I say, it feels great on the road was just worried about the 'dip' but by the sound of it a lot do have a slight dip and if Chip/Fred is correct the scaling isn't great so looks worse than it is?
Can breath again now.
I'll 'tag' him into the thread, hopefully he'll be able to shed some light on what he thinks could cause the dip.
Maybe a map / RS tuner would be beneficial but would rather diagnose the problem rather than covering it up so to speak.
Fred@BTM
Don't get me wrong the car goes extremely well on the road was just wondering if the 'dip' was normal.
Fred at BTM did the cambelt so I would have thought that's all correct, could the cause be anything else?
Is it normal for the 172 to have a dip in torque around 3500rpm?
Not hugely noticeable on the road, I will be getting a AFR done soon so I can see exactly what is going on with the fuel mixture.
Thought I'd book the car in for a rolling road, yes I know there are huge debates for and against them but thought it would be a good base for any future engine modifications as the dyno station was only 10 minutes drive.
One thing that it did show it that the torque has a dip around...
Clio 172 (2002).
At the back on the inlet manifold there seems to be a 'metal' hose that looks like it goes into the bulkhead?
How do I remove said hose? Yes I am blonde but thought I'd ask as knowing me I'd end up breaking something.
Thanks in advance guys.
Also, when painting the inlet...
Just picked the car back up from @MicKPM, what a great and helpful guy.
Had the steering rack bush replaced, while replacing it made sense to swap to a powerflex verison.
The idea is to swap as many OEM bush to new or even powerflex version as the car has now seen 78,000miles.
After...
Can you not mount the seat a few cm towards the wheel. It does indeed look very 'slouched' lol.
That may bring you too close to the wheel, I myself have to be around 3mm from the steering wheel as I only have little legs.
You say that, but apart from on and off the tailor I cant see it being a huge 'bore'?
However I do like the fact I would/could be future proofing it for later engine modification?!?!
I'm in two minds, I guess I can mull it over the next few weeks...
You're back!! .......*whispers quietly* Whiteline.
Food for thought I guess, don't mind it being pretty bad in traffic as I have used a lot worse in the past, is it worth it for 'track' purpose?
Yes, I'm aware OEM is fine. However while swapping I feel why not 'upgrade' while its being done?
But as you say I'm confident a standard one is fine for most people but as i'll be swapping for piece of mind, would be silly not to look at 'improving' it if I can.
Think I'm going to swap the clutch soon.
From previous cars a Helix 'Organic' was a slight step up from OEM, is this the case with the clio too?
Anyone any experience with said clutch or similar?
I do like the feel of OEM however I have had mega heavy clutch in previous cars but I don't see...
** I'd suggest buying a kit which includes actual DAS , Polish, wasx pads etc. Maybe not the best products on the market but you'd keep within budget
Like I say tere WILL be better products than I have listed however the products I have listed would work well for 90% of people...
I did think that, however after taking the rear wheels off yesterday I found that the passenger driveshaft had sheered its bolts and obviously broke.
Guessing either the bolts have been tampered with before my ownership or there was a fault else where/withinn...
Anyway back onto the Clio...
