How old / mileage was the dephaser though?
Mine lasted roughly 120k's from new before it started getting noisy. Changing it with only 30k's covered is overkill.
My old Piper regrinds pulled like a train at the bottom end of the rev range where by my current 428's have made the car worse than stock under 4 thou rpm.
One with the rubber on is called a dowty washer.
Never had any issues reusing the washers. Any time i get a filter from Renault they lob one in the box for free
Its going to be noisier if you remove a silencer but how much by and how much you could tolerate no idea.
If you can't afford a full SS I would buy a universal silencer from ebay. Can be had cheap and just get the garage to weld it in.
Yeah blowing exhausts lose you power and drop the mpg
Dephaser pulley isn't a serviceable item so no replacement schedule. Can't really blame the garage for not doing it or bringing it to your attention.
Best bet imo is to go back to Renault and say its making a noise, act a bit dumb. You might be lucky and get the whole lot done again just for...
Does anyone know if the ph1 throttle body has been discontinued by Renault?
Had one on order from the local dealers for 3 months now. They've chased it up with Renault direct to no avail.
The only reason why people panic about the dephaser pulley is it involves a full expensive cam belt job if it starts to go so most replace at cambelt time purely for future peace of mind.
I got 120k out of mine also.
I think because its just given way towards the centre of the shock so hard to spot. I had the wheel off a couple of months back and never noticed it either plus it felt fine to drive with.
LOL Dan. They've been on the car for about 6 - 8 years iirc so pretty good innings although would have expected the shock body to have rusted through before the spring mounting cup.
Rubbed through a newly fitted Yoko Parada too :(
Heard they can be a bit prone to rusting but would never have thought this would happen  - 100 yards further up the road and i would have been 70mph on a dual carriageway. To be fair they have been on the car a good few years.
Did you replace the throttle body with a 2nd hand one? Iv been waiting 3 months for a new one to arrive from Renault lol so if you fitted a 2nd hand one could be that?
Easy way to check if its a throttle body or cable related is when its stuck holding its revs turn the throttle holder (black...
Look at it another way: Is it so bad it needs lightening and balancing?
Is it going to gain you anything?
Basically no.
I had my flywheel done years ago. The only thing i gained was more space in my wallet. Total waste of money.
BTW did your engine need a rebuild? These F4R's love...
The engineer should have books with the OE spec data in from the companies who supply him with the bearings.
Don't waste your money on lightening and balancing. Their balanced enough from the factory ;)
Allsops has the market sewn up for Supertech valves end of. See below thread for proof of how good £304 delivered is.

Re: Phase 1 172 throttle camel advice
Unhook the cable from the throttle body and the pedal, feed out from behind the bulkhead sound proofing and pull the cable from the bulkhead.
I'm having the same issues but mines the body not the cable.
Every / any garage claim they can time a Clio. Not many can do it right.
Proper tools, Renault ones and experience of doing them before is what you want.
