I'm in the situation that I'm looking for pit to car radios for race day. Race car specific setups are very expensive so in sure someone here must have cobbled together a cheaper option ... What have you got ??
I've looked at basic two way radios, licence free and peltor headsets / rally helmet...
I've generally only seen 205/50/15 and 17+ on the bay ... Don't make anything smaller than a 18 now from new, mainly Porsche and BMWs track / ring tyres
With the pads I would recommend cooling ... It's cheap to do and I've had no probs since installing a simple deflector and £5 duct off ebay tiger sealed in the fog light surround.
Mick... The vbox was neat stuff, in my driver training the guy could show me were I was not braking late enough and the time / distance lost in the corner. The video side by side was good as it compared like for like ... It also allowed me to "prove" that it wasn't always me that effected my...
To be honest I'm hooked on this also, at £300 and it gives instant readout etc I can't fault it... I was at brands this week with a Vbox and its an amazing bit of kit but even at the laptimer entry it's over twice as much and I'm just not sure at this stage of my racing I'll get the full...
Well ... I made a boo boo. The clio cup race series is £1800 (old x85 cup racers) but cleverly listed as £1200+vat if registered before March.
The road series is £720+vat (£864)
Oddly ... Only 7 cars were entered / raced at Rockingham on the 11th so not big numbers ... Also at £1800 entry fee it's a bit pricey !!!!
Nevertheless, at approx £9k for a race ready car I'd be happy with that ...
Ummm well that is the question really ... Honestly I'd rather commit money to the mitchelin road series in a 197 and then use the car to race in other series like the MSV and Tricolore & 750club. I think the best combination is (for me personally) the road series and ad-hoc msv races ... The car...
Ive always opted for full hard front and full hard rear ... i run an ARB and have softened that a bit since increasing the rear spring rate.
Once youre pushing and you get understeer you can tweek it by softening the front.
I had 9mins from leaving the Scrutineering garage to my practice session ... It's not harder to fit an extra hole and plating
The blue book will be for the where's and why fors ... Personally save the agro and conversation an mount a separate hole plate .. Nearside i mounted on the "tunnel" and...
Thanks for the offer Mick.
Happy to hear prices on the laptimer ... I like the display element ... Just looking through their site at the mo regarding the features etc
Whilst reason says yes ... I had issues with the Scrutineer at Snett last sat who was very keen to see independent fixings with plates top and bottom.
Connect the Scrutineer in advance, they'll give you a quick yes / no on this.
What he's saying is if these race cars go to a track day as a corporate day or shake down then it's a case that they can't disconnect all the timing gear (often linked to data logging etc) just to do a track day ...
Of course ... You just switch it on after leaving the pits and off when you do...
In hindsight I should have been a bit more specific ...
I'm looking for a dash mounted lap counter / timer for race day... Following my 1st race I needed something to work too and in car laptimer would help out.
Vbox laptimer looks good ... As does the simple beacon system ... If it offers...
GPS timing equipment looks like the one ... I'll do a bit of eesearch on the vbox gear later... But it's all just the same as the harrys laptimer and a GPS signal module.. Umm could mount the iPhone in the car for a race then ?!?
