No ABS so check for any kind of crash damage mainly front end.
Aux belt needs doing at 36k IIRC.
As said knock 100 or so off for splitter, look for other things too such as tax, mot, next service etc and general wear and tear inc tyres and wheel chips.
Take it for a drive and check for any...
I also want to know why you think a machine should be a last resort? A DA like the G220 will take about 3 microns of clearcoat off, a Rotary about 5-8 and that's for heavily swirled paintwork.
Most cars tend to have around 150 microns (except jap cars which are more like 80). That's a lot of...
I've never had a problem getting rid of any stains using megs APC 10:1. Definately worth getting some, its about 13 quid for just under 4L (concentrated) and you can use it for loads of things!
Fair enough, but I just don't see how you can achieve a perfect finish with anything other than a machine. You can do it by hand, but it'll take a lot longer and I don't you'd get as good a finish as you would with a machine (although granted you could get pretty close).
Just out of interest...
Mate, go for the bilt hamber! Much better than the megs and you get loads more for the same price! Plus no need for the quik detailer either.
If the car's never been clayed before, I'd say an hour to two hours depending on how bad it is, especially with the megs clay as it's quite mild.
A machine isn't the last resort IMO as it's the only way to get a first class finish lol. Most detailing companies will charge about £200+ for that sort of job anyway. No point having it 'valeted' anyway; I doubt most valeters would even know what clay is tbh.
Up keep of the paint will be...
Hmm, you should be ok with the #83 / cutting pad combo, but you'll probably have to do more than one pass with that combo and you may not get 100% correction.
Can't really say any more without knowing what your paint is like to be honest!
That's probably the best kit to go for. As for whether it can remove the swirls in your paint, it depends how bad your paint is at the moment. Any chance you could post up some pics of the paintwork using a flash? I'll be able to tell you if you'll need a more abrasive combo than the megs...
Won't do anything to the plastic, but if you've put any sort of trim stuff on the plastic you'll end up with black marks in your clay which will reduce the number of times it can be used.
Just as a pointer, you need to use a new piece of clay whenever you can't get a clean bit after folding it...
Bilt hamber is the stuff you want mate :) The normal clay is mild to medium so is very good if you're car has never been clayed or hasn't been clayed in a while or you can go for the softer one which is a little bit milder. Best thing is you only need to use water as a lube so saves you loads...
Hard to find GTi's in decent nick these days mate, you're just going to have to wait for the right one unfortunately! Will be worth the wait for a good one though, fantastic cars!!
Re: Project 172:Unknown Direction
Looks good mate :)
How do you find the Greenstuff/Brembo HC combo on track? I've got the same and it just doesn't feel good under braking!
Depends what you like tbh.
Subtle - Stealth, ktec one is quite popular on here
Raspy and reasonably loud - Yozza Road
Loud and wild - Yozza Race
You sure your cat has actually gone and renault arn't making it up?
If you can be bothered with the hassle of changing exhaust come mot...
Agree with this other than the jealousy part.
It is only an Astra at the end of the day, but he does it for a job and threads like that demonstrates what he can do. If you wanted one of the best for your car, you'd definately consider him. If you spent so much time detailing other peoples...
I've tried many different towels and IMO the best is the miracle dryer:

In comparison to the der wunder (as posted above) I find it can keep drying the car longer (you'll be able to dry the car...
I'm going to try to experiment before buying lol, might save me from buying about 3 sets of springs lol.
I think I'll need to get the measurements off some springs that lower the car 50mm at the front and 30 at the rear so I know what size they need to be. I'm still pretty sure I'll need...
Cheers :)
Is this the one? http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/1859608469/?tag=cliospnet01-21 Looks like it's defo worth a buy!
I've looked at the Bilstein B12 kit but looks as though a bit of work is needed to get them to fit the RS's. I'm hoping the cup dampers will be up to the job tbh...
Edit...
