jsut been reading some french websites about the renault 19 16v/s when they were launched back in 1990. this was before they had cat laws in france, so the origianl ones came without cats, the power outputs were;

use humbrol airfix kit paint enamel. costs about 80p and its available in huuuuge number o colours. bestpaint ive used for paintin the calipers. works a treat, dusnt melt or burn off

ok rite, ive always been led to believe, that for an engine to perfrom well, it needs a certain amount of back pressure to operate well, give good fuel economy. and that by decreasing back pressure, the engine loses torque, etc.

hmmmm, ive removed 3 16v cylinder heads now, with varying degrees of mileage. and each head has been clogged up with heavy oily deposits in the inlet manifold and ports-and i mean heavy deposits, looks like tar!!!!! and this is post air filter, so oily deposits r beign left in the system.

if you want better emissions from your beast, maybe a bit more power, then you need an oil catch tank. on normal engines, the crnak case emissions are fed directly back into the engine to be burnt off. but this contaisn oil fumes, which clog up the inlet tracts and coats the pistons in oily...
my gear box in my valver has done 126k miles, and its sweet as a nut. a bit clunky in 2nds gear when cold, but apart from that its fine. depends what kind of driving you do, whether its town driving, lots of gear changing, and full on 8k rev limit action in 1st and 2nd. thats what kills them...

my blocks done 126k and it never emits anythign other than steam. even when cained, thereis no smoke of any kind emitted from the exhaust. jsut keep it oiled up and check the injection system components, like coolant temp sensor, map sensor, air temp sensor, lambda sensor, dodgy injectors. thatl...

well if your lucky enough to find a megane bottom end, they usually go for 500quid ish, but the problem is finding one. tho if your like lofty, you can find a full clio williams engine and box for 400quid! jammy bugger. jsut gota find em! the cams can be had for as cheap as 150quid for regrinds...
ok, the beast is finally road worthy, after being off the road for four months, having the entire abs sytem ditched and fitting a new rack-its really easy to remove the 16v engine! took me 1hr 30mins at one stage to remove it complete.
anyway, the bottom end has got 126k on the clock now...
