for me, the cup is fine as an every day drive. It's still comfy enough etc, but obviously doesn't have all the toys of a 182 cup. However, on the track, I think the proper weight reduction in the 172 cup will prove excellent. Not yet taken it on the track, but won't be long! I would guess...

that's bad mate, but glad you're basically ok. I guess it could have been worse especially with a big car like an A6 - they must be 50% heavier than a cup. Hope you get the car sorted out ok. :)

Amen to that brother!!! Think a variety of people have killed gearboxes, so they are by no means bullet proof, but be weary of caning it in first gear. I talk from bitter experience!!! Don't think I was doing it on purpose as such, but a bit too many revs and too much haste. :(

yup, that sounds about right to me - don't actually need to take the top half off, you can just get your hand in and pull the old one out and do the reverse with the ITG one. I've got an ITG one in mine :)

yup, you'll happily see 40mpg on a motorway. :) I do a fair amount of driving, which includes various weeks of 100+miles each day, which I've completed with no fuss - the motor is more than suitable for such work. AND, it when you're not on a boring motorway, it's great :)
