I very much hope we can park my virgin, just painted silver Phase 1 next to yours and have a yin/yang moment! Took next week off to try and finish reassembling it :)
Its a right of passage, I almost broke my own nose when a rear diff refill plug cracked off suddenly under my Renault 21. Needless to say I don't double-hand-pull spanners toward my face any more
Carried on reassembling the front end today, lots of trims and stuff going back in. Put new rivnuts in to hold the big trim across the front too, with a bunch of new spire clips and stainless bolts and fir trees. Also bolted the seat runners back in too. More on the seats later... i'm a 6'6"...
Trying to get it done for CSS at the end of the month. I want some use out of it this year before the winter closes in, i'll probably tackle the cambelt service while the weather sucks, its due on time soon. The clutch and water pump have been done though so might have a bash at doing it with...
Yukky brake discs from standing around resolved with a good old flap-disc-ing
Refitted inner arch liners and stuff and put the first proper wheel on as that corner was sorted (I think!)
More tinkering tomorrow. Only got a few hours today as I picked up a free Nissan Micra (ewww) first...
I'll do a thread on the 21 when I get around to it. I have a 197 cup too that I should post about!
Teaser, from 2.5km up in the Swiss Alps in 2016, one of my fave pics of the car. How it didnt melt down I will never know, the air was so thin I was well down on power and reduced cooling meant...
This is something I read somewhere a while ago, and saved it to a notepad file, so credit to whoever wrote it, not me. If I recall correctly this was written some 12 or 13 years ago.

By no means is the 5k kick the result of any mechanical/electronic chance within the engine system, whether...
Gratuitous wheel pics
I sometimes read it back myself just because I can't believe I actually got away with building it. Waited 10 years to build, spent over 3 years building it.
21 Turbo Quadra, 4wd, one of 146 made in RHD and one of the 20-ish surviving ones. Rescued it from a scrap yard...

I couldnt afford it and I didnt have time for it. So. I bought it anyway... I've just picked it up after a marathon 2-day round trip (from Coventry to Aberdeen and back) from being...
I took my Renault 9 Turbo off the road when my daughter was brewing, with the intent to restore it.
She's 13 in October.
I havent even started on it yet.
Haha! Yeah it took me 3 years or so to build it, the only thing I didn't do with my own two hands were drive the digger to prep and dig the foundations and lay the breeze blocks (though I did the donkey work labouring for the bricky). I'd never built anything before, and completely winged it...
I suspect I should start my own threads this is tuning into a hijack lol
Fresh back from the paint shop this weekend ready for reassembly.
The 21 at the 'Ring and in the Swiss Alps, you will have seen it at CSS a couple of years back too, last pic.
As it stands now in my freshly built...
The 21 has a big following in France, think Sierra Cosworth over here. They have an assiciated price tag though so a £3k minter over here is €10k over there. As such parts are priced accordingly and any NOS that comes up is usually hoovered up very quickly. On the plus side there is enough...
Thankyou for the tip, I have a spare from a second hand manifold I bought so I might try swapping that in.
I have noticed that the kangarooing reduces with higher octane fuel as well, but as i'm sure everyone knows it's hard to investigate thoroughly when its only an apprent issue for a minute...
Yes, Quadra. Rescued it from a scrap yard in Accrington after an engine bay fire in '98-ish, found another 1991 Quadra in a scrap yard in Wales that had been crashed in '93 with only 18,042 miles on it and then sat in a warehouse for eight years and bought that too, salvaged everything i needed...
Headlights failed completely - needed new UPC (https://turborenault.co.uk/threads/197-headlight-wiring-relay.82805/)
Lower swivel balljoints - hub split when replacing one
Exhaust flexis, then exhaust joint not matching up and blowing, cut the middle section out and fitted a sleeve joint and...
Clio 197 cup Headlight question- my dip beam cut out last night. Mains, sides and fogs work OK. Identified fuses and relay in engine bay. Fuses OK, relay tests OK/swapped with fog relay. Bridged the connection and dip beam works. What triggers the relay? There is no signal coming to trip the...
Congrats! Welcome to V6 ownership. Interesting cars indeed. Look amazing, sound amazing, feel amazing. Not great for going fast but thats not the point is it?
I use these discs on my R21 Quadra. It gets driven (consistently) far harder than any road V6 would ever be, it's far faster than most...
I didnt ask that either, he gave me a quick run through of how it works the other week. I also nearly fell into the comedy-sized turbo...you look at the blower on the side of the engine and it's incredulous, almost like someone laid a truck turbo in the engine bay just for lol's. But no, it's...
No, adey, no....our bangers were here first :D it should be the other way around hahaha.
If I bring the 21, which I hope to, come say Hi if you want a pax lap. If it rains, expect to be petrified, sideways and counting life expectancy time on your fingers :)
