Here's one for you.
I've a dirty great stone chip in the bonnet of my 182, and all the quotes I have had have been silly (£250+) because the dent is quite bad around the chip. My Clio is Black Gold, so they are saying I might have to have the whole bonnet resprayed (thus the high price), so the...
Just found a story about it on BBC website...

Doesn't mention the exhaust thing on their, but this is proof they're stopping people!

^^^^^
Unfortuanatly, they are! Broad street, Birminingham of a weekend, they're stopping anyone with a loud exhaust or that looks modified. Idea is to check for cars without insurance and tax and the likes, but they're also doing emissions tests on the roadside!
Absolute w*nk I know, but I...
You failed to mention that a decat would fail an MOT and you'd need to put the cat back in for it to pass - they're illegal on the road, and if you were stopped and the fuzz spotted you were missing the cat you'd have a hefty fine on your hands!

Aston, unfortunatly not - it invalidates your insurance if you don't declare any non standard mods, and unfortunatly the Cup pack falls into this catagory. Could end up with nought if had a bad smash and hadn't declared it!
Sucks, but that's the law!

Ah right. Didn't know that.
But I still could have done with checking it while I had my calipers in bits - didn't want to overflow the fluid or anything when pushing the piston back in.
Good job I didn't change the fluid! I'd have been well buggered!

Hey all,
I'm sure this is a really stupid question, but where is the brake fluid reservoir on a 182? I've looked through the hand book and it isn't where it says it is in the hand book. Is it a combined power steering fluid/ brake fluid reservoir, or is it hidden under neath something? I've...
I just rang up my insurance to see how much extra it would cost if I added an induction kit to my car, and found out they had my car listed as a standard 182. When I pointed out that it had the additional Cup pack option, they said it's classed as a modification, and are charging me an extra £54...
Ah! I thought you meant the top of the engine that pokes through the cowling in the engine bay! I didn't actually think you meant the cowling! Yeah, as everyone says, normal paint would be fine for that!
Sorry for the confusion!

Not sure if you'd be able to get body coloured VHT paint, but you can get VHT stuff from quite a few places. Try googling it, or even searching on eBay.
I've just bought some silver stuff for my Calipers (and some black "Renault" decals for them), so will look proper hot on my Black Clio. I'm...
You have to use VHT paint when doing engines - the same stuff you use for brake calipers. normal paint would discolour, crack or flake off if you didn't use VHT paint (that's Very High Temperature paint).
Hammerite is only rated to 150C, and most engines can run about 400C or hotter, so it's...
Failing that, I'd say check your front discs. I had the same thing happen to mine and it turned out the inside of the discs was corroded - believe me, it felt a little scary when I found out about it at 60 odd when someone cut me up and the brakes didn't work!
MB_182
Well, i thought i'd give you an update. Decided to pursue the white caliper avenue, only to discover that Hammerite won't work - it's only rated to 100C, and calipers will run as high as 500C! You have to use specific VHT paint - and getting a tin of White VHT paint has proved impossible...
How the hell did you get your engine bay to look that good?!?
What did you to shine up the engine itself? Is it sprayed, or was it a polish with an angle grinder or something?
I had Dunlop SP Sports front and rear on my 182, but I got through the front set in 8,000 mile!
Now got Goodyear Eagle F1s on the Front - they're a lot better wear wise, but don't grip as well as the Dunlops. I've gotta say that the mix of the softer Dunlops on the rear, with the slightly...
I have to admit, I thought the same as you - surely white callipers can't be any more difficult to clean than yellow.
What paint can people reccomend for Callipers? Do they do specific ones, or can you use any high-heat paint?

Hey all,
I was wondering if anyone had a Black Clio Cup (With the anthracite alloys) and had painted their callipers white? If so, would you be able to let me see some pics? I'm thinking of doing it myself, as have recently upgraded front discs to grooved rotors.

Bugger! I wish I'd found out about this a few months back! I got a Sony CD plater with a USB port, and an interface adaptor so I could use the existing steering control and info display in my 182. Looks the business though - it's a black Clio so has the silver detailing inside, and the CD player...
You're mistaken if you think we're taking the piss out of him for wanting to fit a shift light, or for wanting to change gear later. The truth is, what we are commenting on is that the "shift" light on the dash of the Clio 182 isn't that - it's an overrev light, and you actually need to change...
The Clio maxes in torque and Bhp well before the red line, so you should be changing well before hitting it. Also, strictly speaking it's not a "shift" light, more an "over-rev" light - keep bouncing it off the limiter and you'll soon have oil pouring out your exhaust!

Hey all. l`m after some performance discs and pads front and rear for my 182. I need them today though (my car just failed MOT. Please message me if in midland area and can help
MB_182
Mine did the same, until one day i switched it on and my dash lit up like a christmas tree. Turned out the lamda sensor had died and the engine had been pumping fuel straight out the exhaust. Try getting that checked.
Hey all,
Just a quick note that I'm driving up to Edinburgh tomorrow throughout the day, so if you see me, give me a wave. I'll be in a black 182, with reg B***HLM
