I see exactly what you're saying mate, £15k gets you a lot of second hand car but in terms of a new car it doesn't get you anything close to the Laureate Duster. In terms of comparison to rivals, the Qasquai is it's direct rival and a lot more expensive.
Also one thing that people are assuming...
It's not a van you donut!
It's a shell bespoke to that model but steals the engine from the Nissan/Renault range, the 4WD system from a Nissan X-Trail and the interior from various Renaults.
Rumoured also that Nissan will be releasing a version of the Duster under the due to be re-released...
The Juke isn't comparable in terms of size so the Qashqai is a direct competitor. To get a Qashqai with the same 1.5dci engine, ESP and 2WD only and it's £3k more expensive and in terms of interior features actually offers the same levels of 'basicness'.
To compare to the Juke, a 2WD dci model...
No reason why it should be any less reliable than the previous generation of Renaults. They're marketing the latest models as premium cars, price ranges more to the VAG cars than what they used to be.
The interior is a mix and match of Renault parts basically and market as a Renault Duster...
Thanks guys, I have to say most feedback I've had from other people has been really positive. Think it's surprised people who thought it was going to be just another nameless tin can on wheels!
As for economy, we did a drive down to Bristol whilst it only had 50 miles on the clock. With four...
James May would be very proud but here is our Dacia Duster!!
After quite a significant wait, giving us the chance to sell the Mrs Twingo 133 this is our new family wagon in preparation of our new arrival in September.
To be honest we'd been looking at buying a Clio III or Megane III of...
Thanks for the info mate, by the way what is AC?
I'm using an iMac connected by ethernet cable to my current router, then access the wi-fi via iPad/Macbook but my main thought was streaming to the Apple TV and if it had any advantages.
Ok so I'm looking at replacing my home router and was considering the Apple models.
Are they any good? Do they offer any additional features over a normal router to Apple users. We have quite a few apple devices that would be connecting to it.
Another update on the Clio, I finally have a picture of my engine bay and it's looking a little bit brighter.
My mate offered to paint the engine cover for me as the previous owner had rattle canned it black and the finish was pretty rubbish. So as a homage to my Megane 225 the engine in the...
Little update....
I decided to order some plain and simple number plates on Sunday and they arrived today so I got em fitted. The old plates were ok but apart from a bit scruffy looking, had that GB logo that I just don't like.
So off with the old and what a pain in the ar$e cleaning up...
I like the interior switch panel for the headlights/cruise control. I did a the silver bits and round the hazard light switch, think I'll have a go at that panel when I get home. :) Was that panel easy to remove?
Either way, that wrapping look really well done.
I did mine with the bonnet open at the weekend and managed to keep the engine bay polish free!! lol Just don't start the DA until the pad is on the headlight or use less polish haha.
Either way, they look really good mate. :)
I apologise in advance if there is a thread dedicated to this already although I did run a search.
I'm wanting my standard 172 (MKII) wheels refurbished, they are currently what I believe is Ford Sea Grey which apart from having a few marks on, I just don't like. It looks alright in certain...
Yeah they don't have to cost the earth and do make a nice difference. I got T121 NGO for my 133 for £250 which although not personal to me, if I ever sold the car I'd leave it on the car. :)
For the time being though, the next spend will be the exhaust and wheels powder coated.
I'd recommend...
Haha yeah it would mate. I've had that Megane from new and it's my baby haha, got the plate from my parents for my 21st birthday, with my dad not around now it's kinda sentimental too.
I wouldn't mind a plate for the 172 but can't justify it at the moment lol
This was my old 172, have to...
You should find a clean micro fibre cloth and quick detailer should be more than adequate.
If you spray it and rub like f*ck you will no doubt scratch it. What you need to do is spray the bird poop with some quick detailer, let it soak for a few minutes then dab it off the paintwork.
Ideally...
Yeah Photobucket used to be really good, now it's just awkward. I often find that I'll upload some photos, next thing you know they've vanished!
Annoyingly it says I've got 15 days until it resets!! :(
Personally, by hand I'd go with polish with fillers in so SRP (especially the new formula one) is exactly what you need, maybe go for a glaze (Poorboys Blackhole or similar) and then wax. That should leave you with a superb finish by hand.
To actually do full correction by hand would take some...
It's ok, I'll let you off haha.
23bhp would be some impressive aka bullsh!t power from an induction kit but goes to show how cheap ones don't help at all. :)
Read the entire post mate, 23bhp from the induction kit, cams and a re-map!
I'd imagine the induction kit brought up the power by maybe 5-10bhp from the piece of cr*p induction kit that was on there, the rest of the parts then gave me the rest of the power.
Ar$e and b*gger, I think my photobucket account has reached it's limit of views.
Probably one of my pictures being linked to a random site. Had that happen with some random .gif file that ended up linked via Photobucket to some random joke site.
Absolutely mate, I quite like the idea of having the back of the car badge free but obviously the Clio badge leaves two holes so the new style RS badge for £40 was the preferred/cheaper option. :)
Oh and the RS Twingo like I have from the factory on my Twingo 133. It's a RenaultSport badge, not a 'Clio 200 only badge' and I personally think it tidies the back of the car up far better than the RenaultSport and Clio badges it had as standard. :)
Of course the stickers are personal...
Thanks guys.
Tell you what though, as much as claying a car really does leave a great surface to polishing, I bloody hate doing it. Find it so mind numbing! lol
