Re: Mk1 172 Hybrid Track Car Project
did a little test today...
firstly, the yellow is +12v, so no faffing with +5v :D
secondly, the car loom and the speedo loom don't match up colour wise - the speedo loom is 'wrong'
'car' side of the loom:
'speedo' side of the loom:
as you can see...
Re: Mk1 172 Hybrid Track Car Project
yeh I think I remember telling you about that. I've got my OBC connected to the white wire and that works (gives the correct signal)
I've just looked at autodata and the white wire should be 0 and 5v switching, I'll have to measure my voltage tomorrow and...
Re: Mk1 172 Hybrid Track Car Project
yeh, we have phase 1 ecus, so they should automatically be taking the reading from the gearbox speedo sensor.
I assumed that since both sensors were hooked up directly to the gearbox speedo drive and both had an earth and both had an ignition live and both...
it's just the modified department (as opposed to classic or 4x4 etc..) you probably were put through to them.
Though I wasn't amused when the guy on the phone asked if it was a 'credit crunch car' when i said it was a 1992 clio! :dapprove:
I've been with flux twice now (red dept) and am happy :) (though i've not needed to claim bla bla)
insurance actually works out cheaper with a 172 engine and mods declared than a standard valver for me :approve:
i don't know much about these things, but would any tail off in power be overcompensated by then changing up a gear and ending up 'futher' into the power band?
Re: Mk1 172 Hybrid Track Car Project
Max. engine speeds
for a coolant temperature < 75°C 6,700 rpm
for a coolant temperature > 75°C in 1st or 2nd gear 7,200 rpm
for a coolant temperature > 75°C in 3rd, 4th or 5th speed 7,000 rpm
Re: Mk1 172 Hybrid Track Car Project
his problem isn't a long box, it's a short one.. i've had a look and can't find any jb3s that would result in that top speed - some are 100ish mph, others 140-180mph, but none at 120mph
Re: Mk1 172 Hybrid Track Car Project
the only thing i can think of, is it's hitting the 'neutral limiter'... it limits at about 6k in neutral iirc
the speed sensor is hooked up, though i'm not sure if different 'box ratios would confuse the ecu (i.e. it expects to be doing X mph at Y rpms)...
very cool :D
i'm going to bug you again about your steering wheel... got a link to a place that sells them? do they come in black only (without the blue bit on top)?
Re: Mk1 172 Hybrid Track Car Project
can u connect the blue ones clocks to test the rev counter as they're untouched?
rstuner shouldnt be fucked though :D
they do limit lower in 3,4,5.. but not that low!
trace out the old meggy engine loom and trace the 172 engine loom too. then you'll know which wire does what. redo the 172 plug to match the megane one..
if the plugs arent aligning, i'd chop off the original meggy engine loom plug and fit that to the 172 loom
