Standard airbox, replacement element, and a cold air feed seems to be the best set up. Induction will give you plenty of noise, but lose you power. Ive got a standard box on mine with a K&N element and a cold air feed and it works very well.
Mine used to do the same. As adams16v says the dials are sticking. It is either catching on the plastic glass in front of the dials or sticking internally. Sometimes you just need to lightly tap the front of the dials and this will unstick it.
Agree about the AX gt. I bought one when I had just passed my test about 8 yrs ago and it was a top little car. It was quick, handles ok, and only cost me 1100 quid!
My favourites, and I can only talk about what Ive driven and owned are
1. Clio 16v (Never driven a willy)
2. 19 16v. Full...
Loads of debate on here about optimax etc. Ive stopped using super and optimax, and havnt noticed any real power decrease. I reckon its all about perceived value: if you spend more money on your fuel you think the fuel is going to better and make your car perform better. From what ive been told...
Ive read loads of posts with people arguing whether optimax or super is more responsive and makes your car quicker than standard 95 RON. Is it all in the mind? I know if I spend 9p a litre more on fuel then I want something for my money. I reckon the best way to sort the arguement is: Run your...
Scott Wood mine does exactly the same. How did you get it sorted and where is it? Is it the thing that hooks onto to the back of speedo cable behind the clocks? If it is there is going to be some fiddly soldering. Does anyone know where it is and how I can sort it?
Not too sure what the engine bay looks like on your car but if there is a space in your bumper, thats where its gotta go! Other people might have their own methods, but I got some 60mm aluminium ducting and modified it a bit. I used this kind of ducting before but after a couple of months it...
Ive had nothing but trouble with mine, I appreciate its a bit older but things have gone wrong that shoudnt all the same. Having said that my girlfriends brother has got a 3 year old 1.2 and has NEVER had any problems with it. My mates girlfriend has got a 95 clio, think it might be a 1.4, she...
Max Power is indeed sh*te. Just look at some of those Saxos/Novas/Corsas etc you see about with 4 exhausts and a picnic table for a spoiler. That magazines influence has alot to answer for.
Its a 1992 clio 16v in red. Its not the metallic wine red though its not bright red. Just been down to Halfords to get some paint, but there are 4 renault reds and Im not sure which one mine is. Sorry cant post a picture.
Ive had a play with one of these on the motorway. He came flying past me so I thought I would try to catch him. Got behind him, and I could tell he was trying to pull away but he couldnt leave me. I definately had the upper hand, but he had 3 in the car and there was just me in mine so I reckon...
Just got it back from garage now, he says it was just a bolt that hadnt been tightened properly when the clutch was done a few weeks ago. Sorted now cheers everyone.
Driving home today and something has gone wrong with the gearbox. When I set off the gear stick moves back several inches and when I decellerate it moves right forward again . I can still get all the gears and it doesnt do it too bad in 5th. Has the gearbox gone or could it be an engine mount...
Cheers BenR I was thinking that myself, its only a short feed of about a meter, so it will be easy enough to sort. It was an 11mm spanner I used but either the spanner was made a little too big, or the bolt too small. Funny thing is, since fiddling with the caliper yesterday, it has un-seized...
Been trying to put a new rear caliper on my clio, but cant undo the bolt that connects the brakepipe. I left some wd40 on it for an hour or so to loosen it off but still to tight. then, when i thought it was turning, I noticed that the spanner had stripped the bolt head. What is the best way to...
Thanks for the reply Fatherted. Ive waited for about 4 months for a red 16v bonnet in good condition, Ive given up. Ill order one from Renault tomorrow, now I know I can put my scoop on it. They said £130 inc Vat, so thats not too bad.
Whilst driving on the M62 at about 3.30 am, some shi* kids threw a large object (looked like a large petrol can) off the motorway bridge. Thankfully the can hit my bonnet first and then my windscreen so didnt go through the glass. Pulled over and looked back but they had legged it.
Anyway it...
Brun, where can I get one these grills from for 25 quid? Is there a website/contact number for these? Do I need any special clips to fit them to may phase 1? Sorry about all the questions but have wanted one of these for a while and never got round to sorting one.
Thanks for responses everyone. Ive got a K & N element in the std airbox, and I took it out and cleaned it so its not that. Ill try and change the plugs today and see if that helps. Going to take it to Hillpower over the next few weeks for a chip, so see if that changes anything.
Ok cheers for information....Ben R know what you mean about trying to find an answer in a bottle! Its just dont want to spend on a new pump right now. If it is the belt slipping, how do I fix/rectify it?
