Sometimes, though not always, I keep hitting flat spots between 4-7000rpm when accelerating hard. It picks up like it should around 4000, then occasionaly it really struggles up to 7000. Also the idling is a bit lumpy.
Ive cleaned the idle control valve with some cleaning spray. The car has...
My power steering pump has recently started making noise. When the car is stationary or at very low speeds, i.e parking, it sometimes makes a bit of a clicky noise and other times its like a screeching noise. It doesnt do it all the time, and the steering is still light and responsive so the...
It sounds like the same kind of problem ive had with mine. Check the idle potentiometer (i think its called that). Its located right in the front of the engine bay and is dead easy to get to. Check the wiring to the connector the top, as mine corroded and two of the wires were occasionaly...
Had the same problem with National Tyres. got a £15 voucher from a paper and took it down there. First they said they had no filters but would get one in 3-4 days. I went back and they still didnt have one. Said I would go and get one from Renault and they could do it there and then, but they...
Beaten by a bmw 330 ci. Wasted me so god knows how some people claim to keep up with M3s. Ive driven an M3, it was only the 2.8, but it was very quick. Hit my limiter in 2nd racing a gt turbo and I couldnt catch him then. Beaten by an Impreza though not too sure which one. Beaten, which fu*ked...
Mine has just last week started doing it. It always sounded rough from cold but never like this. Ive had the oil and filter changed today and it still does it. Reckon its the tappets too. If it didnt do it before, why has it only started now? Any ideas?
this should work

Cheers for responses, never knew about the 2 stage throttle, now I know what that whistling is mid revs. I read about being progressive with the throttle last week somewhere and tried it out over the weekend and it certainly felt a little quicker, but your mind will convince you anything if you...
When youre getting your foot down, do you floor the pedal and wait for the engine to catch up, or depress the accelerator slowly as the engine speed increases, if you know what I mean? Ive heard being gradual with the accelerator can make you accelerate a little bit quicker..
about 40mm at the back and 35mm springs at the front. Sits nice on the ground and doesnt scrape at all at the back. Never have any passengers in the back though so not too sure when fully loaded.
I have the same set up. I bought some 50mm alluminium ducting from a diy shop and attached this to the air box. I then fed it round to just behind the left of the front number plate so the ducting is facing forward and air is forced inside. Seems to work just fine, and with it being just behind...
Yes you can buy an Rsi or a valver fairly cheaply now. Dropping in a bigger engine costs money, and with your car being a 1.2 you will have to uprate the rear brakes etc and it starts to cost a lot of cash . When you come to sell the car, people are apprehensive of buying something thats been...
Its sorted. Ive been recommended a garage in Preston that will do it for £60 on the condition I get a load of wd40 into it over the weekend. How much should I go for? Im still on the standard phase 1 alloys at the moment and hardly ever have any passengers in the back so do I go 30mm or 40? How...
Just been around a few garages in my area (Preston) to get the rear torsion beam lowered, and no-one wants to do it! They all said it was too time consuming, and the last one they did took 4 hours. Im a customer and paying good money so how can they rufuse? Anyway, has anyone in the North West...
Yes sounds like your clutch. Mine was doing the same, it wasnt really badly slipping but you could tell power wasnt getting to the wheels, and for some reason when it was wet and cold it got worse. The thing is, if there is a fault with some part of the clutch, by the time the mechanic has got...
Anyone know anything about the legal side of speeding fines? My girlfriend had dropped me off at the pub in my car (16v) and was driving through the back roads of North Yorkshire. Being a woman, she didnt notice the police car pulled in at the side of the road, or notice the car pull out behind...
No the plugs are fine. I even put the old ones back in just to check and it has made no difference. Ill try changing leads again for the proper Renault ones and see if this makes a difference.
Thanks for replies yes the new clutch is definately fine. Ive tried it up hills going slowly in 4th and 5th and there is no slipping. The new leads I put on werent renault parts, they were motoquip or something like that. Like I say they looked quite thin compared to the leads I took off, but...
Ive had problems with a slipping clutch on my 16v for the last month or two. Whenever I put my foot down the revs would go up but with little effect on speed. Got it fixed (new clutch) and got the car back on Friday but have noticed that the power band that comes in at 4-4500 rpm has gone. I...
