Id say that all seems pretty reasonable. As regulars who know the track theyre going to have an advantage...I reckon with another day or two I could see the good side of 25...got to work on my braking points, got to work on my braking points, repeat ad infinitum...:D
Id suggest something a little "tamer". When really pressing on in the Cup it moves about loads, which can be very offputting. It stays where you want it to, but it can (and does) attempt to bite on the odd ocassion, especially if you dont wind off the lock and get back on the throttle quickly...
Best I managed recently was a 1:27, with numerous 28s and 29s during that session. Warm day, first out of the paddock, and clear track for 12 laps until the last 2, when I came up on a 4x4 Sierra tussling with a GSI Cavalier, so I really managed to get into the groove.
That was running on...
Having got my first track day out of the way...I need to book another up. It would be good to meet up with some other like-minded Clio owners so...
Any suggestions for a track?
Anyone else have any trackdays already booked?
Mark
When cold I dont get any lumpiness at all, but for the first five minutes it "hunts" at part-throttle around 2.5-3.0 k rpm. Very disconcerting...press the throttle, nothing, press more, still nothing, then all of a sudden it shoots off!
Could this be because Ive got a R-Sport ECU?
How do Clios fair with higher mileage?
Ive knocked out 16k miles in 7 months, half on the motorway, half on A/B roads. Still feels like it did last December, and every journey makes me smile.
Where are you based? If youre anywhere near the South Coast (Sussex, Hampshire) you can jump in mine...
I cant comment on the build quality...cause if I did, Im sure the good luck Ive had will end.
16k miles, and my interior is still rattle and squeak free. The only probs Ive had have been with engine mounts (x2) needing replacing.
If I was after build quality Id have bought an A3. I was after...
I had a V6 Mondeo Zetec-S before getting a Cup.
Would I go back...never.
Best thing I ever did was lose the Dagenham barge. The Cup enetertains on levels the Mondeo could never hope of reaching...and averaging 33mpg is not too shabby either.
Stop considering it...just do it!!!
7 months, 16k miles, and I still sneak a peek out of the window at it, before climbing into bed each night
Great arent they :D
Oh, and welcome aboard.
The noise I was referring to was a very slight metallic sounding "clunk" when coming off the throttle in 1st or 2nd gear, whilst rolling in traffic.
It was there when the car was delivered from new, so it wasnt abuse that broke it. Talking to Mike172sport who actually arranged the replacements...
I bid on that when it was auctioned during April...went for £250 more than my limit...but I was soooo tempted to keep going.
So, it was CB1A who got it then eh? :devilish:
As I found out at The Esses at Castle Combe yesterday...I was just commenting on how all the other cars with their specialised track-day rubber were going to really struggle in the rain and...woosh...round I went!
I was losing approx 10-15 seconds a lap in the wet...but it taught me how to be...
Theres a function within the set-up menu where you can disable the rear speakers over and above any changes to the F/R fade that you might make.
I think you press and hold the "SRC" button for a few seconds to get to the menu...you can also change speed sensitivity etc.
