Im at Castle Combe on 30/06...is that when youre there?
I got a quote from Competition Car Insurance, and for £11,000 cover with £1,100 excess it was £134!!!
I know theres a risk, but like Mike says, there can be an awful lot more risk during normal day-to-day driving, so Im not going to...
My Cups exactly the same!
Feeling bad/guilty? As said before its what theyre designed for...isnt it?
The rev limiter is there for a reason, so leave all traces of mechanical sympathy at home and go spread the 172 word :D
I once heard some advice that you should only ever buy a Ferrari, if you can easily afford to buy two.
That way you should have enough stashed away to keep it running...:o
Ive got a couple of visible chips on my bonnet now, only through the Mondial Blue, down to the primer. No exposed metal on show.
I got a touch up pack from Renault (paint + lacquer) but have never done anything like this before (never given a flying-f*** on any of my cars before).
Anyone...
Bit thick here but wheres Tonbridge?
Get yourself to Linningtons Portsmouth to have your Cup worked on by Mike172sport himself, and a 10% discount from the £170 (ish) service cost.
Depends how far away you are though...?
Single lane, dual carriageway, or motorway...in this country we drive on the left side of the carriageway unless were overtaking...dont we?
Too many people dont do something (like indicate or use lanes properly) "because theres no-one else around". That then becomes habitual and they have to...
Ive never flashed anyone on the motorway. Lets face it, the majority of the time, traffic is an issue, and if you get past the car in front, youll only get stuck behind the car in front of him. So what have you gained? Maybe 20 car lengths or so. Is that really going to make a difference to your...
Of course its gonna rip if you use the throttle like an on-off switch...sounds like you need to practice "feeling" whats happening and ease up on the loud pedal to me...;)
Stay away from fully synthetic until youve got circa 10k miles on it...its to slippery to allow the engine to bed-in/loosen up properly.
Stick to mineral oil, or maybe semi-synthetic.
I may be tempting fate here but...
Since 28/11/2003 Ive covered >10,500 miles in my Cup and have had NO problems.
The 182 isnt that different to the normal RS cars where qualitys concerned is it?
Its gained 500 rpm and now cuts in at 7,750 rpm IIRC.
I should point out (just in case I ever want to sell it to someone from here) that I dont routinely (rarely actually) over-rev my Cup...I like to short-shift and know that if I want to I can really wind it up!
Well, I fitted mine at 2,000 mles and Im on 10,500 now...would I go back? Never!
Power improvements? I dont believe its done much, if anything, to peak power, but it does seem to have filled out and flattened the torque curve a bit.
For me though, the main reason for never wanting to give it...
