To some extent I try and ignore what Im paying for a car, or what Im getting in part exchange allowance. The thing I always focus on is the "cost to change" i.e. the difference.
Whenever Ive bought a car Ive;
1. Checked what the absolute maximum is I could get for my car if I sold it...
As for warranty work Id agree with everyone else, but Id suggest its highly unlikely and dealer would take back a "rejected" car if it wasnt them that originally sold it.
Also, just clicked over 10,500 miles on my Cup since December 2003 and the list of problems Ive had so far is as follows...
@ Rob
I recall that the clutch on the Evo long-term Cup went at about 32K, and it was replaced by their dealer under warranty. Im sure in the article it said that they saved something like £300 by getting it done free of charge.
Id say at 27K you should push quite hard for it to be a...
A friend suggested it might be that Im sat on the right of the car, explaining the lower weight and subsequent lock-up on the left.
Last night on the way home; glorious sunshine, blue skies and I managed to haul down from 80mph to zero without locking any wheels, but the front tyres were...
Weight transfer? Possibly, although my experience so far has been on a variety of roads/conditions.
The pumping is what Im trying to get a feel for...you cant always hear that the wheels have locked, so Im practicing so that I can feel and respond to it when it does happen.
Anyone else?
Ive been practicing holding the Cup on the point of lock-up recently (traffic and road conditions permitting of course :)), and have pushed passed that point to see how it responds and feels once it has locked.
Each and every time Ive locked up its been the nearside front, never any of the...
Welcome aboard fella :D
Nice bikes - if only I hadnt sold my Triumph 900, Id have never bought the Cup...its the only thing Ive found that gives me (almost) the same buzz as riding a bike.
Got mine 28 November last year - up to 9,500 miles now and loving every minute!
Go get one...now ;)...
I feel for you fella, no trial, no jury, straight to execution is what I say.
I had a friend in the Army based in Germany, when he drove back one time, his Escort RS Turbo was totally packed from floor to roof...TV, golf clubs, clothes, everything but the kitchen sink really. He parked it up...
Yep...similar for me...cursing the rattle that Id get round right turns...only to find it was my Cliosport keyring vibrating against the steering column!
Why would I want to?
Would probably cost about 2-3k to change, to get air, 5 more CDs, leather, blah, blah, blah, etc.
The Cup for me does exactly what it says on the tin! Mines not going anywhere...:devilish:
I didnt think they were going to produce a 182 Cup
This is based on the comments Ive read somewhere that, towards the end of the Cups production run they offered Climate Control as an option to see if there really was a market for a stripped out no frills version with no extras...
I know mines not a 182, but after 9,000 miles in 4 months I can report the following problems...
1. The tyres wear out too quick :o
2. My license is no longer clean :@
3. I cant stop driving it (see above 2 points) fast :D
There are always lemons around, you may be lucky, you may not, but...
Im with you on this...having had a 306 for 5 years with air/climate control, automatic wipers etc., and then gone to a new shape Mondeo with its heated seats, heated windscreen, global window closing, aircon and so on...what do I miss the most since Ive had the CUP?
A stereo I can hear at 100...
I think its cheaper because the insurance companies view you as less likeley to take a risk, when its not just you wholl be inconvenienced if you have an RTA, its the named driver too.
Adding my wife to mine dropped it from £600 to £398!
Well, the standard number plate font used for the 1s could be interpreted as either an L, or I or 1 so its down to how the reader sees it.
Me...I think it says Clio Cup ;)
Im registered for the DVLA auction tomorrow, so by this time tomorrow, I should know if Ive got what Im after...Im just hoping not too many people have registered or are looking for the plate Im interested in, so as to keep the demand/price down to reasonable levels.
What am I after...C110 CUP :)
Daipac - me and my moggie have that exact same conversation, most nights, 10 mins after I get home. Hes up on the bonnet straight away revelling in the Renault warmth. I almost broke out my airsoft springer the other day to persuade him otherwise :@ !
For me, the ownership experience thus far...
It took me 8,000 miles and 3 months before I stopped sneaking a peek out of the window at it before I went to bed every night
"...youre not looking at that f***ing car again are you...?", or "...its only a car after all..."
When will she learn???
...believe your trip computer...42 miles to go my arse!
P***ing rain, howling wind, no coat, and already running late it just died at 85mph, outside lane. Hazards on, cut across front of an HGV, and managed to coast to the slip road without getting rear-ended by 250,000 cans of Heineken.
No...
