I'm so glad you posted this, I have a tin rattling noise between around 4.5 and 6k revs, I thought it'd be a heat shield somewhere but had no idea which one. Is there one above the cat section of the exhaust too?

A certain member on here has a very tasty Mk2 Ph1 172 for sale, its already pretty damn sorted for track, but still useable iirc. The car has had some serious money spent on suspension etc so its slightly more than most ph1's but I think it'd be worth it if you were looking at adding such...

The main reason i've never succeeded is the above highlighted part mate, I rock at wet flatting, I think, but I've never had the right polish to get something back up to standard, a link would really be appreciated? Once polished back up, would you blow some lacquer over it, or not? Guessing...
