    Rattle can refurb?

I've slept on the idea of a self refurb, i've come to the conclusion that it'll probably cost me close to £20quid a wheel in supplies, and seeing as City Powder Coating in Birmingham charge £20quid a wheel, it's probably best I let them do it. After looking closely at the wheels, they're not as...

    Rattle can refurb?

Nice one mate that's really good of you, I might take you up on that. Tbh it might just be better to get them coated in Brum, i'm just not sure if the lips are damaged too much to do anything with. That's the conclusion i'm starting to come to.

    Rattle can refurb?

That was what I was thinking do one at a time using the spare, it's just that i'm a bit worried about the cost of materials in relation to city powder coating in Birmingham. If I'm spending near £50quid on paint etc, then it might be worth just saving £80quid and taking them for coating, i'd...

    Rattle can refurb?

No unfortunately I don't have any spare wheels. :dapprove: A dog walking mate has a set of cheap aftermarket wheels he had fitted to a Renault 19 16V, pretty sure they're 15s but I can't remember exactly what size they are or whether they'll fit, or even if they have road worthy tyres.

    Rattle can refurb?

Haha, boredom's what's up with me, I spend most of the week taking photos of morons, so the car's something to do so I don't go mad. Plus i'm about to spray the rear diamond, which is the last badge to be 'anthracited' (Rover stone grey) and I know once they're all done, i'll want to do...

    Rattle can refurb?

Wow, there's some proper hard work gone into those Rob, they look amazing! I think the best thing to do is take some photos of them tomorrow so you can all see what state they're in, the raised lips the standard 172s have are quite bad on mine, so some repair work needs to be done and I could...

West Mids Rolling Road - Saturday 9th of June

Ok then, I might not be there bang on 9, dog walking and all that, but i'll aim to be there no later than 11. It won't bother me if I miss out on free food and drink, I just don't want to dick them about by being too late.

West Mids Rolling Road - Saturday 9th of June

Fair enough mate, i'll show up whenever's best tbh, I don't want to miss out on Bacon butties. If you'd rather we were all there for 9, then that's when i'll show up. (What's the latest I can show up and still get a bacon buttie?) ;)

West Mids Rolling Road - Saturday 9th of June

So what's the deal with this Don, do we all have to show up at Dawns crack so they can compile a running order, or can I show up around 11/12 like the lazy f*cker I am?

    Rattle can refurb?

Right then, looks like i've got some research to do. I know they're not going to look perfect, or as good as a full refurb and powder coating, but tbh i'd just settle for them looking better than they are now. If I start on the spare then I can get all the f*ck ups out the way before I tackle...

    Rattle can refurb?

What I want is Rover Stone Grey alloys to match my badges and bullets, how much would I have to sand them, untill the coating's gone, or just so the primer has a rough surface to cling to?
  12. DaveDreads

    Rattle can refurb?

Now bare with me on this. My standard 172 alloys are curbed and dented to f*ck and would need a full refurb to make them look even half decent, which I just simply can't afford seeing as the belts are due this year, amongst other things. I know I might have to get the old flame suit out for...

Nope f*ck 'em, carry on as you are mate. :approve: Getting annoyed about any forum is just mental, thery're a mirror for society they're full of all types of people good and bad, just like life. I think sometimes people forget that computers have an off switch.

    Cool Mods For Skint People....

Now you know why the Skoda spitter's so popular, £12 > £120. Renault take the piss charging that much for a piece of plastic that'll snap the first time a stone hits it.

    Cool Mods For Skint People....

I'm not sure the paint would stay on a Skoda splitter very long, they're more like rubber than plastic. When you came to screw the thing in all the lacquer would crack and fall off because you have to bend it alot to screw it into place. That and the fact that it's floppy and bendy to begin...

    Cool Mods For Skint People....

Buy a cup splitter from Renault for £120quid. Then go to Halfords and get some rattle cans, plastic primer, your cars paint and lacquer (clear coat). It's not hard to do, i've just painted my bullets and badges with zero knowledge of what I was doing.

What have you done to your car today ???

Figured out if I blip the throttle before turning the engine off. the bizarre morning start up problem goes away, don't know why but it seems to be working so far. :S

    Clicking on startup 182

Mines been doing this for a couple of weeks now, I took it to a Renaut specialists but they coudn't find anything wrong on diognostics, they checked battery earth, starter motor, crank sensor, engine fuses, relays, but they're all fine. I'm leaving it with them over night this week because it...

It was an alright pub tbh, it's certainly big enough to allow everyone to sit together, even if the meets get bigger & start to grow in popularity. If we could have the meets on the second Monday of each month then we'll miss Tuesday & Thursday quiz night, and we won't have to put up with...

What have you done to your car today ???

Took my bullets off and sprayed them Rover stone grey, only the rear diamond to go then all the badges will have been sprayed 'anthrasite'.
