Being a student I think you should go with a more reliable car which is cheap to run etc. If the valver goes wrong it'll bite you in the wallet big time. It was hard for me to get a mint one about six years ago, I dread to think what the majority of them are like now. There are a few nice ones...

Top of the oher people cars is Laura's I think. I'd go with that, you need a set of clear repeaters on it too, I believe hers is lowered too.

TWR were involved in developing the mk1 that's why people mention them. The vee is also the reason they went bust. He has dropped the price since last time, as when it was on before he wanted going rate excellent condition not cat D money.

Even with the discs & pads being new the clearance doesn't sound right, there should be a lot more than 0 mm clearance.

Worth doing a search tbh as I know a few on here have flat wiperblades. I prefer the standard looking ones.

Renault are circa £120 K-tec do them in carbon, but when they get stone chips they look quite bad (so I read on here) Other than that, get one from another car & fit that on, there is a megane one that doesn't look bad at all (It looks factory)
