Soory to tell you but insurance companies have started checking ECUs after a crash if they suspect remaps. But its upto the insurance companys I recon for moded cars they will check but stock cars should be ok. Best not risk it though insurance companies dislike paying out so dont give them an...
Do you mean that shocks + springs will get some sort of feeadback from the road or is this impossible with the electric power stearing as my mate recons?

Arrr get yourselfves a DCI, 61mpg on the way home. I couldnt drive a 172 any faster.
Ive seen as low as 20mpg on a 1.2 16V and 1.4 16V when its a courrtesy car

Clio every time I think more kit as standard. ie airbags (ye sure there no amazing think until you crash when there value cannot be measured) plus abs (
Also the cars handle the same (not to good) althought he clio has potential as its the suspensions which is useless and this can be fixed the...
Keep ringing them up and be nice some of the people who work there will write it in as a visual mod which has a small surcharge attached to to (£30 I think) and an increase to £1k excess.

Best asktony cart for details as he works with the cup racers.
9200 is the region for bent valves.
Running upto 8k shouldnt be any problem it will shorten engine life but if you use it only when the engine nice and warm I cannot see it shortening the engine life to much. The 172 engine is an...
That yellow one looks excellent shame they dont do it over here.
Is it just my mind or does the back of that 182 look quite low and front not much different than the 172. The 182 is supposed to be 20mm lower
EDD
No problems just make sure you tyres at at the right pressure as the cold weather leads to denser air so if the tyres were at the right pressure they may not be now. Also check you have enough windscreen washer mixture as you may need to run a higer mix to stop the water iceing up.
Your car...
TB. Its close though I dislike the lag from turbos sometimes.
Loads of potential in the 172 (similar enigne) BenR reconed 320hp NA and turbo kits are 300hp arnt they. TB would be cheaper and less risky wouldnt they?
What about a 1.9dci tunned instead that would be more interesting.

Sounds like a faulty sensor. The enigne hotter when its cold to help reduce emisions and get to max economy quickly. Sunds like a sensor has gone faulty or the ecu needs relading with new software.
EDD
Id check the readings against the petrol pumps. May be a faulty sensor.
38 to 41mpg blimey I drive to hard I get only 10mpg more ouf of a diesel on the long run.
The mpg counter is very accurate according to my figues and is on mine about 0.5% over reading.

Service at 18k seems to cost between £99 and £150 depending on where you are. REing round a few dealerships to see if you can get it cheaper its worth drivign an extar few miles to get a cheaper service.
EDD
About £150 I thin its the same as the minor service. But since its 10 yrs old they / you may wan to change some other things ie brake fluids/antifreeze.
Th big bg one is 72k when its belts are replced.
EDD
£800 to £1500 I recon depending upon where you liove and milage you inted to do etc.
Comfused gave me the higest quote ever at £21k when I looked for 172 insurance tesco wanted only £1500.
Every insured has different weighting applying to things so one insured may want more than another for...
It has grown on me achually
Its not worth 14 k in my opinion 12/13k max there a 172 in went and sat in at the dealers today and I loved it would have takemn it of there hands but putting my sensible hat on its not worth the extar cost a (about 9k over 3yrs).
The new dynamic front looks...
Get the dci if you intend to do any mileage IMO.
Plus its quieter drving round in my opinion. Least I find it is (although the 1.2 I drive get ragged).
My parents are quite suprised at how quiet it is at speed.
The savings in fuel are probabyl worth the extra plus all other costs are the...
The other problems are
The engine choice isnt as good as vauxhall
There more Vauxhalls out there so cheap engines and parts availiable
The Clio weighs more so needs more power for the same performance than a corsa or Nova
Load of vauxhall parts can be fitted to other models ie v6 brakes...
Makes you think the value of a car which isnt made of tin foil doesnt it.
The Clio is excellent it may deform like mad but so long as the passengers get out ok who cares.
My parents recon that a safer car is one that looks like a car after a crash ie an old VW golf is safer than a Clio cos...
Can someone please explain this suspension lark to me or least point me in the right direction to it.
From what I understand above the dampers are related to the amount of oscilations the car does before it settles down over bumps.
If so what do the bits of rubber do at the stop of the...
Get a new dash fitited as its some part in there which stores the milage not the ECU.
A forum member or two I think have had the dash replaced for warentyl reasons and there milage is back to 0

Id take it bck to Renault and try more than one dealership it may need new software updates.
JAY172 mentioned that the 1.2 problems are normally fixed by new or a reload of the software.
The tapping noise though no idea the engine does has tapets which can be hear but if it goes away with...
Renaults engineers have modified the exhaust manifold to improve gas flow, allowing more efficient cylinder operation. Fuel-injection changes and a slightly different crank profile have also contributed to the power increase.
Err I though it was an ECU remap new exhaust and an intake...
Im sure you can get a GTT tranplat work for £1k plus the cost of an doner car/engiene is about £500 so 1.5k all in plus you can flog the old 1.2 for some extra cash.
Ask Brun about his GTT transplant he has an older generation car but it cannot cost much more for a Mk2 model
