Was always told that buying decent oil is cheaper than a new engine, and its served me well.
See so many people chucking asda's finest cheap oil in half decent motors these days.
Sealey vac pump works great. Ive had this one for 15 years maybe longer, its had loads of use. Pump up and give it...
Updates.

Sealey vac pump to drain.
Valvoline synthpower 5/40and purflux filter.

Knock sensor needs torquing up properly so it reads right if you change it
Is it actually running ok?

There is a group on facebook have a look on there.

I hope my ar1 will last a full day with a bit of rotation, as nearly done nearside front in the afternoon last time.
Looks quite wet to be fair, id clean it up and go from there. Wonder if its crank seal leaking or main cap, its quite often misdiagnosed. Also sump can crack if bolts torqued up too much.
Dipstick and sensor are usually reliable, if its under minimum on oil the bars flash. Absolutelty top it up if dipstick is under min.
That might extinguish the serv light too as that comes on when oil level sensor registers low.
Oil light is for low pressure only, if that comes on then its...
