Orange dci update.
Used orange dci all last week. Had a couple of start up/conk out then start up ok on 2nd attempt chucking eml on briefly. Assumed fuel system issues and scanned with clip to diagnose.
Can clip diagnostics
A few faults stored but no fuel related codes. Digging a bit deeper...
The one i drove with grp n timing also could cut out in certain circumstances, i guess its due to the limits of what can be mapped on stock ecu. When i drove it, i was heel and toeing it and never noticed, but my mate said it done it to him occasionally.
Didnt expect any less than a clean pass mate 👌
Certainly no need to be pulling the engine apart yet imo. Oil seals hardening with age/lack of use is a real issue sadly. If you use it parts wear out, if you dont use it parts also wear out. Cant win!
Bang on @Mr Trailer Man Full scan takes ages, i usually guess what ecu is called on cars im not used to scanning to save time.
Tip for renolink, if its in french use the google translate app on your phone via camera to find out what it is.
Updates
Had a couple of hours spare so fitted the new brakes front and rear yesterday.
Brembo HC plain discs/Ferodo Ds1.11 pads up front.
Snr plain rear discs and Ferodo Ds2500 on the rear. Rear discs not coated so splashed some vht paint on the centres to stop flash rust.
Interestingly i...
Updates.
Blue meg in for ac regas last Friday.
Ac time
Ac was working before and compressor was kicking in just not very cool, it is working fine again now recharged though. We will see if it holds and go from there.
Thanks for reading!!
Updates.
New 205 50 15 Nankang crs fitted yesterday. The profile is slightly wider than the old 205 r888r but fits without issue on et43 speedlines.
Nankang crs look sexy
Sidewall feels stiffer and turn in even more precise. There is less tyre noise than the old r888r too.
I also give it...
It should have the thread in the block as oem but does depend on what adaptor bolt has been used. The oem thread into the block to filter is cheap new if you need one.
Not needed on a road car, id be taking it off personally. Debatable if needed on a track car from experience too.
Oil will be too cool if no thermostatic plate.
Whats the issue? Belt change? Might need another revolution to get tensioner in the window.
Also check correct crank pin length and the keyway mark is lined up in oilpump casing.
Last person who has done belt might not have moved cam pulley bolts.
Water pump should be done as a given with cambelt to be fair.
If it is waterpump then fit genuine renault pump only, i had an aftermarket water pump fail after 8k, and had to do the same job twice.
Aux belt will chirp from cold. Check the tensioner has not seized and its slipping, run it with...
Ferodo Ds1.11. Ive never had them fade and last for ages as endurance pad, managed 5 trackdays on my last set. Stop great from cold.
Expect some squeal off any race pad when not up to optimal temp though.
Been looking into tyres too as current r888r are in great nick visually but 9 years old. My mate has got a set of sexy Nankang CRS in stock in 205/50/15 for me. Just need to check the sidewall profile is no wider than current r888r before purchase.
Fingers crossed mate. The quieter pump is an absolute win. Need to datalog on street as dont want to return to Chris with same issue.
Cheers mate! Its a keeper unless somebody comes along with around 20k. Id never advertise it for sale as i cant be arsed with the hassle.
Ive sold a few, but...
Should hear the ds1.11 in my extra van. The screeching is horrific, worst ive ever heard. The looks i got off a highway agency car last week were priceless when driving into the services off the motorway  only thing that shuts them up is hard braking.
I really rated the trw, any idea on part number? I done 3 trackdays on a set and they were excellent for a road pad. Actually worked loads better than the pbs i changed them for.
Updates.
Decided to fit the aem 400lph pump today as had it stock and easy enough to change.
Aem 400lph straight swap for 044.
Ran both pumps to refill the swirl pot as had to drain it into a container. Noted the aem pump sounded much quieter than the old bosch 044.
Started it up and ran up...
Echo what @Mr Underhill said above.
Im no pro driver and not even that quick but drive the circuit very similar to John.
Flat through jim clark esses and use all the apex on exit. Slight lift before barcroft, if you have full commitment through barcroft it gets sketchy on the brakes before...
I might just stick this pulse damper in as i have it, it should be easy to add in and can be removed if no good. A lot of tuners swear by them including the hp tuners lot and say it cures it, but when talking to Chris he said they are s**t
Im trying to avoid any rubber that might go into...
As above the cheap brembo are poor.
I had a set of trw pads in mine that were excellent for stock. Cant remember the exact part number sadly. Failing that go for a performance upgrade.
