Yes, I was pleased with the time especially as car is basically new to me and conditions weren't ideal. It's getting the lines right and more bravery/not lifting in places that's required now.
The pointers helped a bit but to remember everything and drive the lap is difficult. @Fletcher and I...
Thanks Rob.
App is Harry's Laptimer Petrolhead Edition. It's very easy to use, select the track e.g. NordschleifeBTG then it automatically starts and stops timer via GPS.
Fletcher was using it and it looked good so I bought it on Saturday morning.
Couple of photos from this weekend. I'll post a full write and lap videos in next few days.
Summary is that it was a great trip despite snow meaning we didn't get as many dry laps as we had hoped. The red wheels are wrapped in R888R tyres which were great in wet and dry.
It was slightly...
Thanks. It's been very trying and costly but yes it's definitely satisfying now it's working properly.
Alternative would have been to sell it last year and buy an M135 instead of rebuilding the engine but that probably wouldn't be as fun.
Thanks Andy :)
Yes, there are lot of similarities between them. Both of us have had more than our fair share of issues!
I'm looking forward to seeing Trophy running again. I'll admit I'm bit jealous of your digital dash and data logging functionality. That's one thing I'd like on the Megane...
It's much more than the sum of it's parts. I think it's cheap when a 911 Turbo S can only pull a couple of car lengths on it up to three figures :tonguewink:
It's 330bhp 360lbft at moment which is probably enough with it being a daily driver. There's another R26 with same spec engine running 380bhp 420lbft with a fuel system.
When I first got it back I had 225 width AD08R tyres on front and it was a handful. It was a very skittish torque steering in 2nd and 3rd.
Now I've fitted 235 width AD08R tyres to the front it puts power down really well in every gear. Acceleration is effortless so a lot of the time I don't...
Thanks, it's appreciated.
The power is great so I don't regret forging the engine. In hindsight though I should have bought a new gearbox from Renault and got RS Tuning to rebuild the engine first time round.
It's the labour and the little bits like gaskets, oil pumps etc that add up. You could probably do it for £3.5k if you did most of the work yourself, reuse original turbo, and didn't bother with cams and the spring kit.
It's going to get it's first proper run out in a weeks time. I'm off to the Ring with @Fletcher in his 172, and @Christopher. as my passenger :)
This was it two years ago with about 260bhp so it should go a bit faster now.
