    172 handling / knocking issue

Rack ends then, I shall investigate them and replace them first with the rod end too and get some camber bolts and an alignment at the same time. Prob worth replacing steering rack gaitors at the same time. Coolio, Cat B Ali

    unsteady feel

Anyone ever get to the bottom of these issues? Mine has a bit of a knock and feels vague, a little bit too much play in the steering and feels like its sliding a bit in faster bends. The shocks and top mount bearings are new, the o/s driveshaft is newish - was thinking track rod ends and track...

    172 handling / knocking issue

Cheers Martin, John at Progrip told me 6 months ago there was play in the track rods lol so that might be all it is. Need to get camber bolts fitted and tracking done again so perfect opportunity to do it I guess. I'll get it on a ramp locally this week to see if there's any more needing done.

    172 handling / knocking issue

For a while now my 172 has had a bit of play somewhere which was noticeable through the steering wheel when low speed maneouvring e.g. pulling out of a parking space. I had replaced the o/s driveshaft in the hope it'd fix it but it didn't. Since then its had new shocks and springs so they're...

    Canister purge valve

Evaporative emissions canisters are used to collect unburnt fuel and its drawn into the inlet under vacuum to be burnt. The purge valves are there to draw the fuel through i.e. open the vacuum when triggered. IF they're the same as on motorcycles in California that is. I did a bit of work on...

The day I got mine I knocked it over like a tard and it came up with red lights. Error code on screen suggested it was a drive fault and it's never caused any problems in about 6 months

That was me, R90 RYS Saw you flash, gave you a subtle nod lol. Was that you I saw last night too coming off Alexandra Parade heading up to Baird St? Must have been the Ferrari you heard as the 172 is standard bar the suspension, either that or its blowing lol The camera on Duke St is for...

    36k Belt service

Indeed, fair play of its both belts. Make sure they do the tensioners too

    36k Belt service

@ 36k its not a cambelt unless its over 5 years old. So £500 for an aux belt and service is a bit steep imo.
