Small update
Rear towing eye cover has been knackered for ages with clips broken, looks like previous owner has reversed into something and bumper has a few battle scars. I occasionally pop it back into place when somebody suggests that its ready to fall off.
Looks shite.
I was looking for a...
Updates.
Quick clean up yesterday. There was no beading and and assume no protection on it, so give it a coating of gtechniq c2v3 to keep it going until we get it in for correction and coating next year. Meganesport sticker on rear window also went the journey after the pics.
Thanks for...
Cheers mate. I almost bought a new driveshaft but couldnt get snr at the right price and the cheaper aftermarket megabe shafts are not the best with crap boots or cv joints that wont fit.
All turned out ok in the end though and shaft refurbed for around £60. Just need a good day to fit it all now.
Updates.
Cleaned the R26 last weekend and a quick coat of gtechniq c2v3.
Quick check of fluids. Never uses anything but takes 2 mins.
Whilst bonnet was up checked the torque on the pms top mounts as not checked them since fitting and im going over the suspension ready for Spa.
N/s top...
Short boot would work OK if your stuck, but the longer one will be better. Ive used a short one as outer on my blue dci, lasted about 30 thousand miles.
Large jubilee clip is good if you have hassle with the proper clip.
Stick a boot on, outer cv joint knocks off easy. I have a few oem renault thermoplastic ones here if your stuck but would need to measure what size you need.
Also if its a small nick in the boot, brake cleaner it clean, mitre bond or superglue will fix it. Usually lasts the boot out ive done...
Updates.
Used the 250 a couple of times recently and all good.
Took it down my mates garage so could have a look at the underside on the lift to see whats what. Nothing to note all looks excellent.
Will give the underside a wash off and coating of xcp rust block soon, ready for winter...
The interior panel fitting was straightforward enough. I knew i was missing a couple of bits of trim so had to improvise. The van has different plastic upper trims that go around the van panel/rear qtr window and i did not have these. Also did not have the front lower plastic trims and metal...
Updates
Had toe set on the blue dci a couple of weeks ago. Toe set almost neutral as i dont need every bit of turn in and want max mileage out of the tyres.
On the geo lift.
Noted inner arb bushes are well past their best so got them to do soon.
Apart from that its looking good for mot at the...
Spot on didnt think the mounts would give you any issues.
If it vibrates on idle loosen off the mounts slightly, start engine up let it settle into happy position and retorque the mounts.
@plees made a nice fitted washer for the upper mount too, might be worth fitting. Can just about see it in...
Fit the valves and springs to the head as they are and measure the installed height of the spring, and if not correct adjust to suit with shims.
The machine shop i use made custom shims that fit over the valve stem oil seals, they said its better than shimming underneath the valve stem oil seal.
Needs diagnostics with clip, could just be a basic plug or coil.
Doubt its related to airfilter, they dont have a maf from memory so wont be an airflow issue.
I guess the povo spec mk4 has slightly different hubs to rs?
Meg2 is also threaded where it goes into the hub, nylock on top and povo hubs have the pinch bolt.
Looks very similar to meg2 wishbone/balljoint, is it listed as espace balljoint? I pop them out and back in using the press with arm off. One of them ball joint presses that you gun up would do the trick in situ nicely.
If these drums are similar to mk2 they might have the bearing pressed in, so acid dip will wash all the grease out if that is the case.
Id just wire wheel them and prime/paint in situ. Hour a side, will look better than current.
Updates.
Kangoo was looking a bit sad and paint was a bit flat with slight oxidation on the roof, bumpers/plastics faded and a bit of oxidation on the headlamps. Ive not polished it since last cut 4 years ago so its done quite well with a handful of applications of c2v3 over the years.
Had a...
Ive used it on heavily corroded steel with success, i usually mix it a bit stronger and chuck the parts in for a day or two. Good wire brush before to get the thick off to speed up the process.
