[Feb 6, 2016] The 11th Annual Surrey Rolling Road Day (Farnborough)

Any car is welcome so it'll be interesting to see how the M3 does. It'll either be in the middle or at the end that the awd and rwd cars are run.

    15" Oz F1 wheels with R888 tyres

@Fletcher @RobBrodie do you need any more R888's?

That's probably a bit fancy for track wheels. Yes, yours does look good with red wheels. Think I'd go for red that matches the Brembos. I would like a set at some point. They're quite expensive though and I'd want to paint them anthracite. Reason I'm using R26 alloys is three of them are my...

I've got the R26 back home now :grinning: Mark Black couldn't supply the parts I needed for the hubs so my mechanic machined the parts instead. The gearbox feels great now and there's no vibration from the Powerflex bushes so I'm very happy. The Pure Motorsport 10mm spacers on front make the...

Help - think I might have buggered the engine (drove through a puddle)

I once drove my old Monaco 172 through a stretch of water three foot deep and had no problems so hopefully you get it sorted.

    Lift off oversteer

General Chat. It'll definitely be due to budget tyres. I spun my 172 on a roundabout because it had a pair of Infinity tyres on the rear.

Using a daily on track through-out the year

The 172 has 195 50 15 on a set of 2118s and R26 has 225 40 18 on standard alloys but I'm getting 235 40 18 next time. Front tyres on 172 lasted 12k including nine laps of the Ring, a driving holiday to Wales, and the Blyton Park trackday at CSS. Rears still have 4mm left. R26 hasn't been...

Using a daily on track through-out the year

I would recommend using a more trackday focused tyre. I've been using Yokohama AD08R tyres all year round for a while now on my R26 and 172 as I don't have space for spare sets of wheels. They have lots of grip, take a lot of abuse on track, and I've had no issues using them in extremely wet...

Gearbox, subframe etc is back in the car now. I haven't got the car back yet though because I'm still waiting for parts to sort my hub bearings that I ordered from Mark Black.

    Hi from Hampshire

Welcome, I'm in Hook so not far from Fleet. I'll arrange one for first or second week in January. What dates are good for everyone? Wednesday 6th January?

    PS3s vs AD08Rs on track

Yes, they're good for winter use. I've had no issues with very wet conditions in my 172 or R26.

    PS3s vs AD08Rs on track

AD08R is the better tyre to use on track. I've got a set on my 172 and they wear much better than PS3 tyres would on track. I changed the front tyres on Saturday after doing 12k miles including 9 laps of the Ring and a half day at Blyton Park. Rear tyres still have 4 or 5mm left as well.

Update - The Damage! Thought I'd share the damage to the old engine and the good job I did breaking the gearbox! These are the photos Dan@SJM sent me after I asked him to investigate the smoking turbo and inspect the engine. The engine had spun a bearing sending swarf round the engine which...
