It's been sat in bits for over a month now sat looking sorry for itself but hopefully it'll be up and running by the end of the week :smile:
I collected the gearbox this evening. It's taken so long because the parts where on backorder and had to come from Renault France. Then they were stuck...
I've had the gearbox inspected by 3D Transmissions in Reading. It needs 6th gear pair, crown wheel, pinion shaft, 2nd gear synchro, and input bearing. The 6th gears on input and main have lost teeth which have then damaged the crown wheel and pinion shaft. I'm pissed off about the bearings...
I'll be changing the discs soon anyway and I did spray the calipers with brake cleaner then gave them a quick wipe over.
It's reliable if you don't use 6th 😂 It's never in my ownership actually had a breakdown that meant I couldn't drive it where I wanted to go.

It happened two weeks ago, I was driving home in 6th when it started rattling. First thought was s**t the engine has gone but to my relief the noise went when I changed down. All other gears are fine but 6th crunches when selected and then rattles.

It's ok so far, I haven't felt any slipping and clutch has done 7.5k miles now (5k on old engine and 2.5k on this one).

Update
Realised that I've not done a proper update on results and spec of the engine since RS Tuning rebuilt it.
It's now running 340bhp and 360lbft with injectors at 89% and turbo not pushed to the max. There's another LY Megane with same spec engine but upgraded fuel system running 375bhp so...
I'm thinking of doing this to my Storm Grey 172 as I've got everything required apart from a Megane head and an ecu.
You'll need a new set of Megane injectors, or if they come with a donor engine get them cleaned as they have a habit of failing. I also wouldn't put used Megane pistons and rods...
