you need to drive it hard to run it in properly, if you don't it'll make poor power. Treat the gearbox with some respect and you'll be fine.

PE2's great on road wet or dry but not cheap but do wear very well Pzero Nero cheap, grip well wet and dry not sure how they wear but do scream a bit in the dry when provoked

Plate was on retention for over a year till I got the 172, DVLA didn't want me putting an R reg on a 1990 car ;)

£3300 v's £12,500 not much to compare IMO Different strokes for different folks, on the roads we were on there was nothing in it but the Mini would easily out torque the 172 in a straight line I should think.
