    There's a very tidy silver phase 1 172 on ebay for £3k which needs a cambelt, apparently the private plate is worth £500 on it (which will pay for the cambelt!)

    Its at the top of the price band for a phase 1 TBH but if the mileage is genuine and belts are done it's not a bad car for the money.

    I paid £3300 for a 54k miler with belts done, I wouldn't pay more than 4k for a 172 nowadays personally

    coilovers will improve the handling but could compromise the ride quality. If lowering on springs alone make sure it's Eibach Sportlines or Prolines

    If you decide to keep it on sportlines I'm trying to organise a Koni adjustable damper group buy. Combined with the sportlines its a great setup. If you want to go lower though you'll need the coilovers.
