If your doing rings its full engine rebuild.
Main and big end bearings, crank grind if needed, minimum hone or rebore and oversized pistons, new oil pump etc. Id prob add supertech valves to that list for reliability.
If the engine is running ok just fix the leaks and new belts and send it.
Sunday update.
Had spare half hour so cleaned up the seatbelts..they were super grotty and retracting pretty slow.
Mixed up a bucket of vanish oxy action and got the drill brush out. Quick soak in the bucket and buzz over with the brush.
Before - drivers belt was even worse was black
After -...
Cheers all (y) Feel like i have got to a point with it where im pretty happy with it, use and maintain.
I love the way it looks on the compomotives. I fancy trying my white set on it at some point to see how it sits on them.
Its on cooksport springs and oem r26 shocks, same as your new one iirc.
Nice easy retro fit - result.
Interestingly if uch software is similar to meg 2 then settings wont make too much of a difference when thinking about it.
I accidently cocked up some settings on a mk2 ph2 meg years ago and had to use trial and error to put what heating etc. It had climate and i...
Updates.
Finally flushed the brake fluid on Thursday. Ive been putting this off for ages as the bleed nipples on the brembos were solid when i tried a while back.
I managed to break 3 of them loose - using my induction heater, quenching with plus gas and tightening/loosening them. Final one...
Good to catch up mate. Your track clio looks spot on, sounded good on track
Got a short vid on drive by.
I was itching to get out yesterday but the queues looked big to get on so give it a rain check.
Im considering booking 13th May.
The vw gearbox is generally used on high power turbo conversions. Apparently the gearshift is not the best.
EfiParts do an adaptor plate and flywheel. You then need to make gearbox mounts, fit shifter and custom driveshafts. Be £1500-2k to do it right as the gearbox you need is not cheap.
One off that defo. My dci is usually full speed on drizzle, or intermittent on heavy rain
I think they were all a bit poor on that age. Mk2 meg not much better either. Mk3 meg 250 was bang on though on 60 reg, rain sensor must be miles better.
Id like to keep auto lights but normal wipers, mines on o.e screen but very hit and miss, always using them manually.
Been meaning to look if i can code it like that on clip - i think its both or nothing.
Be a little bit careful doing that now as it goes as a claim on most insurance.
I claimed for the Kangoo one and they have mentioned it the last couple of years, doesnt seem to affect the price but unsure now. Dont give them any reason to increase price.
The auto wipers are pretty terrible so probably been coded out years ago.
Auto lights not bad but wouldnt personally spend a lot of money changing screen for them.
Interssting info regarding the microswitch. All the ones i have coded out had fixed position buckets so was no need to look at that, simply code out seat airbags and pre tensioners and srs system works as normal.
I guess you need to fit resistors to fool the srs system to think airbags still...
You should not be rotating it by exhaust cam, crank only.
Do it as per megane rs/workshop manual.
Rotate the crankshaft clockwise through two revolutions at the timing end, pin crank before end of 2nd revolution. Reset tensioner if necessary.
As above buy the decent impact gun as the cheap ones arent worth a look.
Dewalt dcp 899 is decent if you want a cheaper option than red. Ive hammered mine for years and does most jobs with ease, crank pulleys, subframe bolts etc no problem at all.
Quick wash earlier whilst the gear was out.
Clean.
Was going to attempt bleeding the brakes and fitting the compomotives today but ran out of time. Ill get them sorted back end of week.
Thanks for reading!!
Sunday update
Cooling system tested and passed with no leaks with new o rings so was good to rebuild.
Twin viton o rings to replace knackered originals.
All back together a few hours later.
Whilst dash was off took the opportunity to fit the Alpine swe-1200 underseat sub that i bought off...
Updates.
Done a load of miles over last few weeks in the blue dci. Ive been getting a whiff of coolant inside occasionally and slight coolant loss. Over a thousand miles or so it changed from slight whiff to stinking of coolant so figured heater matrix was starting to leak bad.
Retired it...
