ideal, I've never driven one with 309 rear end but I think the 309 was more stable as a result of it being wider, not sure if the wheelbase was any longer? The 1.9 sure does step out if you lift off and on crappy tyres it can spin you at as little as 15mph lol notorious for good reason!

experiment with different tyre profiles you may be able to change wheel size without affecting the speedo too much e,g, 1-2% difference
