Just unplug the connection mate. Just do it with the engine running so you can tell which one makes no difference to the idle. I lost a coil on the M3 and diagnosed it in the exact same way

On mine I just put the key in switched ignition on and pressed the lock button once. It then fired up

I'm not overly sure mate, it's usually blue with a white stripe on the ISO harness I think
