Re: 'Cub's Trackday Flamer - Cage etc'
Dodgy earth
fuel relay sender
There was some comedy though. I managed to lock myself out of the house just as Alex arrived. And the lock on the bonnet was stuck. Took us 45 mins of 'ninja hands' to get into the car! Lol.
As Gray said, ask @oilman at Opie Oils on here.
He was great sorting a very specific grade of gearbox oil for my gripper diff in the clio.
Just seen micks post above, if it's not plated then it's less of a concern I believe. You still want a decent oil though.
Re: 'Cub's Trackday Flamer - Cage etc'
Cheers guys. I'm trying to find someone who can paint the inlet lettering white without goofing it up. Which counts me out. :)
A reasonable amount of loom came out and the weight of the pump. But it's not major weight saving. I did mine because the ABS pump get blowing fuses on track days. I didn't want ABS on track anyway really.....
We tried to fire it off Mikes DCi. Nothing. Not even a splutter. I'll start with chips tests, then start cleaning stuff up. I don't run arch liners (looking for a pair) so he may be onto a winner with the relay to the solenoid.
It conducted electricity to fire when Dan tested it. So it's not that.
I had to jump it to get it to start to put it in the garage in the first place before the engine swap. I thought it was the battery at the time, although now I am not so sure...
Update. Seems to be confirmed as electrical. I put it in 3rd and rocked it and the aux belt has moved.
The garage can't pick it up until Monday, so I'll just have to wait. It's sat on the drive looking sorry for itself!
Don't worry bud, only discovered it wouldn't fire again about 30 mins ago. Thought the new starter would sort it. On the plus side, bled all the brakes, and everything else is done! If j-tech can't find it tomorrow, you about later this week?
Haven't painted the box bud. Its exactly as you saw...
Sorry Dan, what do you mean by this? Remember i'm dumb :)
Gearbox was, clutch wasn't. I think. But Dan@SJM can confirm.
Yep. And tried a different battery straight out of a working clio.
I'll get them to check it bud.
It is driving me nuts. And budgie, lol!
Daniel - Machine gun noise seems to come from the starter motor.
Mark - I'll do that, but how could the engine go from turning over on the stand, to not turning over when put in the bay. Literally craned into the bay and bolted up?
It doesn't get to that point. But the engine turned over fine when Dan@SJM checked it / compression tested it before it was fitted. Seems electrical, which fills me with fear!
So, put a new engine in the flamer, wouldn't start. Machine gun type noise. Sounded and thought it was the starter motor. Swapped it earlier for a second hand one which is proven. Same noise still, no start.
@Budgie and I have tried to pin point a bad earth. Charged the battery up. Tried to jump...
