Re: Cub 172's Flamer Project
Cheers, when I first joined your Ph1 Flamer gave me inspiration for this one :)
Lol. Herbertez would be right. It's worse than polishing it. I'm cleaning bits to then paint them. My old man always said, if it's worth doing, do it properly. But he'd have a fit if...
Re: Cub 172's Flamer Project
Cheers all!
Nice to get going at it. BIGASH - carpet was just lying around. Honest ;) Tim. Need to see your Beemer bud, pop over on Sunday eve if you're about, you can help me on the flamer :)
Re: Cub 172's Flamer Project
Project 'Fix the Flamer' swung into force last night :)
Our resident dwarf and Herbertez popped over to help me get the engine onto its stand and stripped off the spare ancillaries that came with it (alternator etc). Budgie and Nick_172Cup - Fanks! Here are some...
Quite frankly I am staggered some people in here are suggesting not contacting the police.
The guy who hit the OP is a law breaking, insurance dodging, insurance fraud advocating, weapons grade satchel who deserves everything he gets. He is one of the reasons we all pay sky high premiums.

Good spot, my mistake, they are AD08s :)
Cheers, the garage was hard work but well worth it. Never ending dust in the prep stages, nearly drove me mental!

Awesome bus. Love this. Bad times on the dent :( You claiming on house insurance. At least it hasnt scuffed / cracked the paint.
Those winter tyres look like serious bits of kit. I want to see it climbing a near vertical hill in the ice ;)
I also love the fact you have a spare set of pristine...
Re: Cub 172's Flamer Project
Update time.
Job no. 1 this winter is sorted - prepping the flamers new home;
Having sorted the garage, I have a job list as long as my arm, all to get done before the Trackday Season opener at Bedford on the 15th Feb. I have ordered an engine stand and Mike is...
This thread is not helping me ignore Budgies kind offer. I think I'm going to lose the fight and get one next year.
Awesome awesome car. It was so capable in every department when I went to the Merc Experience day with work, it genuinely astonished me how well it performed despite also being a...
Spacers will be easier, else it's subframe etc as above.
The size of the spacers will determine how quickly the bearings will get goosed. I've got 15 mm all round, but some run upto 25 mm without too many problems.
It is a lot of work to do on the 1.2. Why will you have it a while? Not worth saving your money and then in a year swap it for something quicker / a 172?
Parts should be readily available though.
