This is epic. Fair play doing a deal on that YB chip, at least you have the knowledge its going in something green and monstrous :)
Mike, if you need some ballast at any point, I'll sit in the passenger seat, I'll make sure I bring some spare pants.
On a more serious note, when you get a...
Will do mate, can do it with a few beers on a sunday. Will be when I get a garage - finally!!
Need fletch to join us with the heat gun, I know how much he loves stripping Tar!
FLOL - knew you'd say that Jay. Mine is going to be fully decarpeted and stripped more for next year. I need to drive it 2-3 days a week at the moment, and its got to go to Le Mans in the summer. I'm a man who likes to retain some level of comfort for 5 hour + journeys!
Cheers chap! Sadly its poorly (which SRR confirmed), but it shall come back stronger than ever! Bad timing, as i'm moving house, so can't afford to sort it before summer. That means no more track days this summer :(
Next year, i'm aiming to do between 6 to 8.
Sorry to hear this Pete, but if it makes you feel better - you're not alone :(
I'll be forging mine as I agree with you, if it needs rebuilding, may as well do it properly and give it more strength for future options / reliability etc.
Hope the Rockingham race goes well.
Re: Cub 172's Flamer Project
Cheers bud, how is the hunt for a clio going? The issues on mine present opportunity, that is the positive spin i'm putting on it :)
NA vs Turbo vs SC. That is the question.
Re: Cub 172's Flamer Project
I did mate. I can't take an extra in the flamer, the lack of rear seats causes a problem.
Agree we need to get together, problem is - i'm on another stag do this weekend. One night next week?
Re: Cub 172's Flamer Project
Right, update time. Apologies - this is likely to be a long one, with quite a few ups and downs.
Since having the cage and seats put in, I started to plan a 'season' of trackdays to get the best out of the flamer and to improve my own track skills somewhat :o
I...
Fapping larvely Ryan!
HOW HAVE I NOT SEEN THIS IN THE FLESH YET! I R DISAPPOINT :(
You are right though, just a flamer with a bodykit iirc ;)
PS. Can't wait to see it rolling around at Le Mans.
Cheers for posting it in its non FB state.
Absolute gold. 'Bbbbbbrrrrrrrraaaakkkkeeeee'.
Clownshoe - 'you ok?'
Instructor - 'well obviously that is a less than ideal situation'.
Re: A Mini Adventure ...
Glad the lamps are going, I'd also change the chrome radiator grille surrounds (go black, as still OEM). Fair comment on wheels etc, plus, given you've bought it to save cash then you're right, changing stuff that is largely cosmetic is pointless.
When is it making its...
Re: A Mini Adventure ...
Just got back from Andorra to see this. I knew you'd like it. I liked my r53 when I had it, but got annoyed at changing Power Steering pumps every 5 mins lol.
They do handle well, very well.
I'd get a more 'bubbly' exhaust on it and change the wheels. Then the old...
Good vids Si. From 11 mins on you can see quite a bit of me and the poorly flamer queuing up to get past the s2000. You can also see the diff helping when I get past him, round bus stop then off I shoot.
Re: Djw Designs dedicated track toy project
Subscribed. This is going to be awesome, I have the warm feeling of 'awesomeness' about it already, and yet it's merely only a shell at the moment. (Albeit looks a very nice and tidy shell).
If we're talking ph2's, they aren't perfectly identical, but that doesnt matter as the important bits are the same. You can fit them between models I.e. 172 into 182 and vice versa iirc. I know, as I have a 182 engine in my 172 at the moment.
As said, about £45 a day for 'day only'. MORIS cover all mods, as do people like Sky, Greenlight and Brentacre. I have an agreed value for both road and track, and its a fair bit more than £2k to £3k ;)
It's personal preference really, some people are more risk averse than others. If mine was a...
