For a permanent solution you need to prepare the surface well.
clean it, wipe it down a couple of times with isopropyl alcohol or similar to ensure there's no shite left on the trim, then apply the treatment and keep it dry for 24 hours
Not heard of forever black but as a temporary dressing, auto finesse revive is awesome.
or if you want a more permanent treatment the gtechnic/carpro (someone will confirm the brands) nano sealants are very popular and seem to give brilliant results

Get a detail with a nano coating when you're here then keep on top of it over there with pre washes like citrus power, shampoos either gloss enhancers and a protection too up like reload.
