I test drove the clio and CTR back to back:
'Civic Type-R, very comfy, and the gearbox was lovely with good positioning on the dashboard, but didn’t do anything until 10 million revs and the steering was very artificially weighty which I didn’t like. The thing that put me off the most though...
I parked next to you in the services whilst i went to the loo, tried to take some pics of them together as its the first time ive seen another one . . but it was just too dark :(
Was on Tuesday 30th November at about 4.30pm
I drive along the M4 quite a bit as i drive from Windsor area to Basingstoke/Cheltenham (via Swindon) to see my girlfriend.
Only had the car a week though lol, still done 1100 miles :S
When looking for a new toy recently i had the pleasure of driving the two back to back (along with a CTR), being a lover of all things pug, ie 2 x 106gti's and a 306 Rallye, i would have loved to get a gti 180. But it just didnt cut the mustard in my opinion, here are my write ups:
206 was...
Firstly i presume your the 106 gti Dodson off PGAC? If so welcome :D
Secondly, that insurance is waay too much, try admiral/elephant and stick ya mum as well, it'll drop to less than £1k. At 21 with a years no claims i paid £820 fully comp for my old modified 306 Rallye . .
Cup price, i...
And im very very impressed, in all honesty i thought it may a bit of a come down from my M Roadster . . . but nah, handlings brilliant, very similar to my old 106 gti with the Bilstein Sprintline setup. Speed wise, kinda getting used to the rev happy nature at the mo, spins round from 5k to the...
To answer the question with regard to straight line speed, i test drove both a couple of weeks ago and would imagine the civic would pull away cleanly from about 90+ . . wouldnt say theres much difference in them though to be honest.
Real world acceleration differences between cars 20bhp or...
Sorry but its such a naff question, especially when you qualify it by saying 'off the lights or around town' . . . perhaps im just getting old and boring now im 23!
Not having a go :)
Welcome :)
What other hatches have you owned then? Im moving onto the 182 after a charade turbo, fiesta si, 2 x 106gti's and a 306 Rallye (as well as a 328i Sport and current M Roadster) . . . im running out of decent hot hatches to try lol
Such high mpg is only something i could ever...
Personally i dont see the point in buying a brand new clio and suffering huge depreciation when ive seen ones in the trader with 6k miles for £9500 . . . which is what ill be doing in the newxt few weeks :)
Does no-one have any info about this car, engine work was done by GDI apparently, its miles away from were i live, so dont wanna waste loadsa money driving up there to just have a look!
Right, im looking for a 182 with cup packs at the mo, but whilst browsing pistonheads i can across this:
http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/48880.htm
Looks mint and spec seems rather tasty, but how would it compare to a 182 and does anyone know anything about the car - seems like the type of...
I also thought the test was rubbish, im used to a strict diet of Evo magazine and autocar was simply useless.
Not enough information about how the cars drove or anything really, i bought the mag, read the 'poor' drivers cars test and threw it away
Autotrader would suggest a standard one is worth about 1750-2000, id put it up for £2495 and drop a little.
Less than 1k . . . im no clio expert, but thats b****cks
Umm no, he's an experienced racing driver - touring cars, Lotus exiges, Seat Cupra, etc etc
The brakes get knackered cos he drives properly and the cars cant cope ;)
If you break hard enough, they will go red . . . my old housemates Teggy R's brake pads caught fire on one rather spirited drive!
He then completely destroyed the brakes on his TT in 2 laps of Castle Coombe, and most recently fried the brakes on his MCoupe in less than 1 lap of the 'ring . .
Thats cos ive owned 7 cars in the past 2 years lol, at this rate i will owned at least two of all the best hotches around lol
Rich - the secret may well be out, i would have maybe got a gti6, but they just arent new enough for work unfortunatey . . . oh and the fuel economy is dire ;) and...
And yeah ill deffo miss the power, but fun and chuckability will make up for it . . . my old 106 gti was simply awesome fun and i view the 182 as the modern equivalent so im sure it wont disappoint!!
Clio will cost about £800 with Admiral, could get it for slightly less with Direct Line but they dont allow any modifications for under 25's.
Personally i think thats rather expensive when my 321bhp M Roadster only costs £980 . . .
I just grabbed the pic off google, i realise it isnt...
Thanks for the nice comment about the 106, was indeed a beauty :)
The M Roadster is simply awesome to be honest, dont believe what people say about the handling either, in all honesty in the dry its fantastic, not like a go-cart but you travel across ground at a ridiculously fast rate! In the...
Hi there, new person looking to join the fold. Having owned 2 x 106 gti's
and a 306 Rallye
- all modified extensively i might add, for performance and handling . . none of the this looking good bollox lol
Currently have an M Roadster, but relocation to London means i should buy...
