    wanted a m3 but....

Drive both .... you'll then realise why there are so many M3's on the road :)

    Pah, i was close :rasp:

    Acoustic valve...

According to Renaultsport themselves, it's there to limit induction noise for EU noise regs. The flap seems to open at 4.5-5k rpm, you then seem to get the '5k kick' .... with a flap closed in an air feed you will get less air. Common sense dictates that if a flap is open and you are getting...

    Should i get one?

    I've had 2 x 106 gti's, a 206 gti, a 306 Rallye, a Z3M, a 182, a 130bhp 206 hdi :o and now a 172 Cup. Its the best car ive owned; i will be keeping it until it dies :D

    mpg

33/34 generally - that includes pootling 8 miles to work on 30mph roads. 35/36 on long motorway runs. Have lost 2mpg since fitting the Espace airbox; far too tempting not to boot it i feel lol:race:

    FK vs Weitec vs Koni

Im in exactly the same situation as you ... unsurprisingly, people have just told me to me H&Rs:dapprove: Im seriously considering the Weitecs as they have a good rep in the golf/TT/fiesta ST clubs. Essentially just a slighter cheaper version of KW. I've had Bilstein Sprintline on all my...

    Weitec Coilovers

Has anyone fitted them as of yet? They are made by KW and seem to just be the slightly cheaper version of the brand. I know a chap fitted them to a MK3, but what about a 172/182 .... Everyone says get H&Rs, but they are quite simply silly money, i want coilovers as its going to be hitting the...

going to look at a clio 172 cup

I used to have a 306 Rallye as well - great car :race: Heres my old one: Cups muuuuch cheaper to run though lol
  13. Sir_Dave

What would you pick? 172ff or cup

172 Cup for me. I used to have a 182 FF and i prefer the raw nature of the cup i have now. Any monkey can get in a FF and drive it quick - it takes a certain extra degree of skill to drive a cup fast, it has no electronic nannies to help you out and in that respect takes longer to learn and...

    T1-R's, A539's, Sport Contacts, Pilot Exalto's or F1's ?

I have Pzeros on my cup and they are awful, really slippery if there is any hint of damp on the road. A cup shouldnt spin its wheels in 3rd for gods sake ...... Will be getting Contisports on asap - i have used them on all my previous cars and been very happy with them :)

Clio 172 Cup! Various Questions :)

Number plate. Samco bend doesnt make it go any faster ... No. plate you can keep for ever :)
  16. Sir_Dave

How best to increase 182 performance??

Buy a faster car. You bought a 182 to save money, now your planning on spanking 3 grand to add 20bhp :S Sod that :quiet:

    Buying a Cup?

Lets just say that i just paid £4900 for a '53 plate cup (with 50k) from a Renault dealer with 12 months warranty, MOT, tax and new discs/pads all round. lol you can buy it for £7200 if you like :rasp:
  18. Sir_Dave

Thinking of Selling My Cup for £4k

Seems cheap, but to be honest, seeing as i just paid £4900 for a '53 plate one with 50k, 12 months MOT/Tax, news discs/pads all round & 2 new tires from a Renault main dealer .... the market may be slowing down .... Or i may just be a deal negiotating god ;)
  19. Sir_Dave

so its 0% finance if you buy a renault!!!

Heres a better idea, pay cash, but tell them that instead of taking the 0% finance you want to pay the invoice value that they would have sold it to the finance company for. This will be approx. 15% less than the original cost :) These types of deals are brilliant for people who have cash...

Used car prices - dont make sence!

The cheap one is up North - everything is cheaper up there as wages are considerably less than down south. For example, a 1 bed flat in Wakefield is from £65k. Gloucester is near Cheltenham - which is quite an affluent area of the Midlands, a 1 bed flat would cost £130k :)

172/182/197 Clios and New Vxr Corsa

Just read the review in Auto Express, they said it handled & steered far better than the new cooper s . . which was voted better than the 197 :quiet: Mini better overall though due to looks/image of VXR . . . Will be massive tuning potential, but its still a Vauxhall

The Cat D Inferno U know the one 6 + Owners

Will somebody who has owned this car please just own up and say why it gets moved on soo quickly. For example, Sarah there must be something massively wrong with it to let it go for £3k 4 weeks after buying it for nearly £7k . . . None of you own it anymore so nobody should care. Seriously...

would you still buy a sport if they had a small engine?

I couldnt care less what it looks like or what equipment it has, it if handles and goes well ill buy it . . . Rattles and sqeaks add to the character :D Looks are for posers :rasp:

Thinking of getting a 172 Cup

Gaz your clio reminds me i need a cup with H&R's in April, keep straying toward another M, but thats just awesome!!
  26. Sir_Dave

    would you class

My late '53 is on 83k :rasp: its a 206 hdi though, racked up 19k miles in the 182 in 5 months lol
  27. Sir_Dave

    Gps/radar Dectectors???

Origin B2, best in my opinion as its looks factory installed and comes with a remote GPS anyway - so the screen doesnt affect it. Also easy to take out of the car and put in your pocket :)

    Clio 197

They are going for £13k on autotrader with minimal miles :)

Insuring Your Car in Your Parents/Missus' Name.

Interesting, i was on my dads insurance for my fiesta 1.6si from 17 to 21 years old. All modifications were listed and I was listed as main driver. The car was also insured at a different address to where my dad lived. It cost me £400 a year. Over 4 years i paid £1600. On my insurance it would...
