This weekend has been all about assembly and wiring. With the test day on Friday it's essential I get the car to a point where it starts and runs as soon as possible so I know I'm not wasting my time on the smaller jobs before it goes onto the trailer.
Starting with the EPAS controller and ECU...
Had a hectic week trying to get the car ready with a long list to get through.
Started with some easy stuff, making up a few brackets and fitting the Cartek isolator.
First up was a mount for the steering wheel connection plug
The isolator couldn't be easier to install. Far easier than...
Sounds like they’ve not used a UV resistant lacquer.
I would try talking to them about it as it’s obviously not something that would show straight away anyway.
If you remove a wheel does the back still look more white? That may be the way you’ll need to demonstrate to them that this has...
There are 2 earths on the gearbox. One large one under the wheel arch already mentioned and then also one on a bolt above the diff housing beside the speed sensor (if you have a JC5-129 gearbox) Which is attached to the engine loom.
Have you checked the white connector under the fuse and relay holders under the bonnet. Notoriously prone to corrosion especially if the car has been sitting.
Secondly and probably oviously have you checked the earth straps on the gearbox?
If it ran before you removed the gearbox it must be...
Sounds like the best option if it plugs straight in. Price wise it's in the same ballpark as Emerald, Gen90 etc. As long as you've got someone who knows the software you should be good to go I'd say.
Good luck with it.
Currently I've purchased a Renault Laguna rear wiper as one of our competitors uses one and it looks like it works. Only really need one speed as long as there's plenty of RainX on the screen!
If that isn't cutting it then I may look at the Fiat Uno one. The Citroen AX motor is also quite...
Maybe not 3 Ilya. 2 possibly!
I will change the screen for a heated one eventually. I had one in my other Clio which worked really well. The heater was the easiest solution short term, as I still want to have the option to blow warm air into the cabin so the rest of the windows don't get...
Thanks Neil, it seemed to make the most sense keeping the hose routes the same. As I mentioned, the only issue I had with the Mk1 dash is the ventilation slots being closer to the windscreen so I cut a new slot along the top of the metalwork duct. Not the tidiest! It would have been much easier...
That’s interesting. You can see the difference to increase castor.
Surprised no one has done a brushing kit to achieve the same as a conversion from standard wishbones.
(Or maybe they have and I missed it!)

Thanks mate. Probably only 3 options in the way to mount it. I was debating whether to mount it in the scuttle for a bit and just run the ducting into the cabin but that would have meant more coolant hose to run to the new position and also, small though it is I'm trying to keep everything low...
I've always had Arai and just replaced my 10 year old helmet for the new season as it went out of date. It's a big investment but one I've always worth making. I tried Bell and Stilo at the Motorsport Show in Jan but the Stilo wasn't comfortable and although the Bell was very comfortable I found...
PEC do them (I have them) although I think I remember them telling me that they’re actually made by Supertech.
They are race pistons.

The noise test is done at 3/4 throttle so you're right Ilya, between 5 and 5.5k is what they ask for. (I don't usually mention that mine revs to 8,300 )
Last job today was reinstating the 2 extinguisher nozzles that previously were mounted under the old dash.
A couple more brackets and small jobs to get done tomorrow and then I should be ready to start rewiring.
i made the decision during the week to use a Cartek Power Distribution Panel the...
More progress today and during last week. After some paint and offering up the Mk1 dash top I can start to visualise where everything will go.
Using the original bulkhead fitting for the heater hoses and mated it with the T7 Bulkhead fitting.
Then fitted the new heater/blower.
To...
It's possible that the timing had slipped since the car was mapped in which case it should be fine now and the fact that the car is running nicely may indicate this. There is a knock sensor on the block which may also help safeguard the engine. BUT, as already said above if you can stretch to it...
Yes that was unfortunate. He also came to Donington but I don’t think he made it through quali.
Good luck on Monday.

Good luck! I raced against this car a few times last year.
Shame you’re not coming to TinTops. Don’t rule it out. The format is exactly the same but no weight restrictions. And one class just for Clios!
I’ll be following!

I believe that piece hooks into the door and is supposed to hold it in place during an accident.
I spent a lot of time taking weight out of my doors but it will never come close to fibreglass doors.
Well, as usual, the so-called small jobs have escalated!
I had always intended to remove the dash over the winter but in doing so it has led on to a far bigger exercise. In removing the dash and of course all the associated dials and controls it became very clear that a rewire was going to be...
Your new engine should be solid. Did you run it in on the dyno or does Nick do that?
I feel your pain re last season. I had one of those a couple of years ago, I think we had 5 race meetings where we didn't get further than qualifying.
Hope it goes well for you.
