also... if you were to follow the autodata procedure for timing a f4r it actually tells you to mark the pulleys after having timed it up with the tool...
if it wont run at all then the belts slipped and knackered more than 1 valve.
if its only "dropped" one valve or done whatever to 1 valve it would still attempt to run on the remaining 3
k4j has the bleed nipple on the thermostat housing same as an f4r its a 10mm bolt you can tell which one it is as you will see sealer under it.
you can get away with just running it up with the cap off as the air will surface to the top sometimes its a bit tricky but you can do it

be surprised if the internals wouldnt handle it the old cvh turbo fords with standard boost of 7 psi will quite happily run a bar (14psi) all day long on bog standard internals as long as its fueling right

there is such a thing as a fluid mount the mk4 onwards escorts mainly disels use them and a few others couple of pugs aswell never clocked one on a renault

if you just want to top it up, its fine to do that and you dont really need to add antifreeze to it for the small amount it is water is fine
or if you want to drain and refill then yes you can do that
