FM - sorry to go a bit off topic but that method you have given for repairs on the silver bumper would that be the same as doing a repair on solid white ?
and also, repairs like that i take it everywhere up to where you have faded the laquer in to would need to be scuffed up with a scotch pad or...
engine + box you can use your shafts + subframe but you would need to change engine and dash loom including the ecu and uch from the donor car and depending what the 1.6 came out of you have to deal with climate control etc
also steering is a problem as your 1.2 will be electric and inoperative...
yeah, but it only really happens the first time you brake.
you normally get it when you wash a car and leave it overnight without moving it surface rust builds up on the discs but as i say it usually clears the first time you lean on the pedal.
is it a metalic grinding you are getting?
i wish people would be sure before they start giving advice like this.
basically - if they can see it they can fail it.
the rules are if the tester is unsure on something they can only pass/advise.
ie if the car has steel wheels and they cant see the pads (can see the discs from behind the...
i just use mole grips.
they are easier really for easy to get to ones as they lock.
but i do have a tool like was posted above except remote the actual clamp end is on a long bit of cable for hard to access ones like on jag s type heater valves
your car will probably have the black one but that will fit and work fine.
why dont you just stick your head under your car and look would have probably took less time than taking that picture
one job is no more simple than the other the head has to come off to change the rods and even if its bent 8 valves its not going to add more than an hour to the labour.
valves cost a bit though
not entirely sure about the loss of compression as i would have thought the bent rod should cause the engine to lock up which would obviously mean they wouldnt know how much compression it has.
we changed 2 conrods on a jaguar v6 not long ago due to a similar situation
still dont get why nobody has made up a sprung slip jointed decat pipe.
then you would just put the same fittings on your old cat and its a 5 min job to swap the two over.
so obvious yet never seen one... will make one next time im bored methinks.
hes saying that getting your 1.4 resprayed in the colour you want will cost you the same amount or more than paying for a years insurance on a proper monaco blue 172 sport,,, and i tend to agree to be honest.
think he means what the mount actually does - the engine+gearbox assembly its self is hung at either side of the car.
those to support the engine horizontaly and the dogbone mount stops lateral movement or the engine spinning on those two mounts
