If you're worried about the wheels just get them painted probably. Not powder coated. I hate polished wheels, they bring so much hassle!

On a dry day when I take the car for a blast I want the best tyres on the front.
Going by VBH's take on thing you woukd have to replace the rear tyres everytime they go to 4mm ish! I'm sorry but that ridiculous!

Maybe for safety but not for handling on a FWD car. Anyone who says otherwise is just being silly. Grip is required at the front of a FWD car.
Oh I would also add that the shape of the tyre on the front after considerable mileage is different to the shape on the back. I'd love to find that...
