Hi
I've done the cambelt on the 172/182 several times and have the tools.
My Meg 250 needs its belts doing. I was wondering if you can use the 172/182 pulley locking tool?
Thanks

My 182 cut out cruising at 70 on a dual carriageway. One minute cruising fine, next nothing.
I've swapped the following from my race car:
Coil pack, leads and plugs
Fuel rail and injectors
Lambda sensor
TDC sensor and plug
Compression tested and all ok
It still won't start. It turns over on the...
My 182 has been developing a slight mis-fire for a while.
It only occurs (or is noticeable) at light throttle openings e.g. cruising at 30 in 3rd. Once you put your foot down a bit you cannot notice it e.g. 70 on motorway. But at idle when it is having a bad day it will put the flashing engine...
I've got some wheels that have years worth of track pad dust baked on.
I want to get them clean/preped so I can paint them.
The only way I can get it off is by scraping with a screwdriver, but I really can't be arsed.
So I was thinking of buying a cheap sand blaster e.g...
The government is doing a consultation on allowing local councils to close roads for motorsport use.
The MSA have prepared some guidelines on how to support the idea.
You have until 10th April to have your say.

Any one used one on a clio?
Looks like a much cheaper option that scales lol.
Especially if I did a home made job http://www.cobraclub.com/forum/general-tech-tips-questions/48628-home-made-corner-weight-gauge.html
The sheath the dip stick slides into has snapped off at the block.
Can I get it out without removing the sump? There is nothing proud of the block.
I assume I can get a new one from Renault?
When I press the electric window switch or turn on the intermittent wipers it triggers a fault were the wipers start and don't stop. There is also a lot of clicking coming from the UCH and the immobiliser light comes on solid red during the fault.
This is on my 172 cup racing car. It still has...
I'm changing a front wheel bearing on my cup packed 182.
It looks like the bearing will press out of either side of the hub, I've removed both circlips.
Is one way better than another?
Thnaks.
So with bodies and mild cams say 428/421 territory.
Should you switch to verniers or keep the dephaser?
As far as I can see verniers allow easier adjustment of the cam timing and would not fail like a dephaser.
But you lose the flexibility of adjusting the cam timing when the engine is...
I'm looking to read up on car suspension/chassis setup.
The sort of stuff I'm interested in learning about includes geometry, spring rates, damping, anti-roll bars and how it all interacts.
Thanks
I've got a new set of Lemforder track rods/inner arms. They are about 15-20mm shorter than what I have on my 172 cup.
There will still be at least 20mm inside the track rod end. Is that enough?
Thanks
I need a +ve feed under the bonnet, low current. It can be live either for position 1 or 2 of the key but not always live.
I don't really want to interfere with the ECU or ignition feeds.
Where have people taken feeds from? 172 cup BTW.
Thanks
I'm swapping my engine over. Old engine had cams new engine doesn't but my ecu is mapped for the cams.
Does any one have a copy of the std map for a 172 cup/172 ph2 that they could e-mail me a copy of? That would allow me to run the car without worrying about the mapping until I get time to...
Are there any?
I seem to recall people saying that there are.
But I am fitting a cambelt to a ph1 engine and the bits all look the same as on my ph2 172 cup engine.
Do you need to get new cylinder head bolts when refitting the head?
Ktec web site says yes.
Renault manual says maybe - "The bolts can be re-used if the length under the head does not exceed 117.7 mm (otherwise change all the
bolts)."
Title should read head bolts BTW ;)
I'm currently removing my engine (172 cup).
Where is the best place to disconnect the power steering pipes?
I figured it would be on the rack but it doesn't look very nice down there so I was thinking I could disconnect them at the pump and hold the pipes out of the way - seeing as they have...
If I wanted to map the standard ECU myself what equipment would I need?
Something to read/write the map from/to the ECU - what?
Something to record sensor states - what?
Lambda sensor that can read AFR?
Thanks
Hi
I've drilled some holes in the clio to attach some things. I'm not planning on painting the area but I'm worried the sides of the hole will start to rust and then spread out from there.
I there a common way to stop this - I seem to recall zinc paint?
Thanks
Hi
I was thinking I'd like to brush up on my tuning knowledge, it's been years since I've read any theory stuff and no doubt things have moved on a fair bit since.
I'm interested in N/A engine tuning theory, or the practical application of, any way. I have a scientific educational background...
I'm going to be doing some "wiring" in the clio. I imagine I'll be needing to do two things mostly:
1. Join the ends of 2 wires together
2. Join a new wire to an existing one without breaking the original wire
I'm familiar with what Halfords and the like have to offer but I've never found...
I need some 40x2mm CDS roll cage tubing.
I've tried my local metal fabricators but they didn't even seem to know what it was...
I can get it on ebay for 18 quid + 6.50 p+p for 1.5m, but seems a bit pricey and I need 2m lol.
I am missing something or is it really that much of a specialist item?
