I have bought a Sodemo F4R vv cheap, it's got a valve head off but it was silly cheap.
1st pic shows structural cam cover so it can be used as an engine mounting, also you can get the cover off without removing the pulleys. Another nice touch are the two bungs over each camshaft on No.1 so you...
I think it's quite good power when you consider the shortcomings of the base engine:-
Bore / stroke limits rpm
Small bore limits valve area hence runs out of puff @ 7000
In and Ex valves on same centres so they shroud each other
Valves too far apart so shrouded by cylinder walls
And also...
The engine is dry sumped, there is a breather from the bottom of the block to the oil tank and then 2 breathers from the oil tank to the catch pot.
As a general rule with dry sump systems breathing is done via the oil tank so no need for breathers on the engine.
DTA S40 PRO the TB's needed a custom manifold, respacing, machining so the bellmouths would fit (have to remove butterflies - PITA), highflow fuel rail and gas flowing to remove sharp steps.
The water pump is a Davies Craig elastictrikery one.
The blank plate and oil pump belt tensioner were handstitched by me (as was the inlet manifold).
The TB's were a lot of work as gas flowing them and fitting the bell mouths is time consuming, if I did it again I would use Jenvey bodies on...
Thought this might be of interest.
It's not going in a Clio but it's an F4R.
I've just got the engine back from the Dyno and here are the figures.
